"Foundation should look like skin." -Bobbi Brown

I remember back in 2004, I had just finished makeup school and I was on my first paid photo shoot for a print ad.

I didn't have money to own top of the line makeup products back then, owning mostly extremely affordable (yet imported!) makeup, and a paper bag as my "train case". I was a thriving and an aspiring makeup artist, but didn't have money for big brands like Bobbi Brown. I remember that day like it were yesterday -I had just put on foundation on my model and every time I would turn my back on her, I'd return to look at her and there would be cracks on her face (where her natural lines are). It took me 2 hours to finally be satisfied with the makeup. I couldn't finish because I kept retouching the base!

In 10 years in the industry, I can attest that the key to good makeup application (aside from having wonderful skin) is to invest in good foundations.

As a makeup artist, a good flawless foundation is a must to have in your kit whether you're a pro or just for your personal use. As a woman though who hardly wears makeup when working, I never really cared for foundation because I don't like how it feels on my skin. But as I grew older, I fell in love with foundations and am constantly on the lookout for barely-there foundations. Bobbi Brown's Skin Foundation with SPF15 PA+ is definitely one of my top choices that give the most natural looking base that melts perfectly into the skin.

Always a spot-on match.

Bobbi Brown's packaging is one of my favorites.Very simple, modern and classy. Simple but elegant.

The nozzle pumps out the right amount of product each time. My advise would be, start with a single pump and apply your foundation. Just build from there. Pump more product if you need more! Don't over do it to keep it looking natural.

Sorry about the swatch though. I put on too much and I had to spread it until there was no more product that's why it looks so thick. LOL But in truth, the foundation is very runny, almost like airbrush foundation but slightly thicker. Just a little bit thicker.

When you spread it, it conceals fine lines and gives a very radiant and bright finish. The best part is, it contains SPF which is amazing because it doesn't feel thick at all.

I love using Canmake's Cheek Brush for my foundation because it "buffs" the skin quite well giving a very natural finish. Plus, the foundation is very runny so it's quite difficult to use the fingers to apply because it just might drip.

In my photos below, I am making funny faces because I wanted to check the flexibility of the foundation. No lines would appear just anywhere each time I frown, I smile, I laugh... No cuts, no butts, no coconuts! Hahaha!

But kidding aside, all I want to say is that the foundation is very flexible. It really sits on your skin like airbrush, and even if you make faces and move about, you won't create any lines!

Some women may find the finish quite sheer, but I love it. I actually bought shades for my pro kit! I love that it's wearable specially for my brides because it lasts the whole day without retouch. You can see below that it didn't cover my acne scars 100%, but it looks very natural because there is no caking around scars where it's dry!

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS:
PROS
  • Very lightweight!
  • Gives an airbrush finish.
  • Non-drying, very moisturizing.
  • Brightening effect (not whitening)
  • Flexible! Foundation won't crack or will fine lines mark the foundation.
  • Non-sticky!
  • Perfect for hot and humid countries.
  • Can be used under the eye area.
  • Wide range of shades to choose from. (Made specially for Asians)
  • Beautiful skin-like effect.
  • Can be used alone without being set with powder.
  • The thin coverage will not cake when set with powder.
  • Long lasting coverage!
  • Has sun protection. I still recommend at least SPF30 though.
  • Readily available in Bobbi Brown counters.
  • Affordable for such a wonderful product!
  • Non-Acnegenic (this is always good news!)
  • Yellow based tones gives a healthy looking, natural glow. Not gray!
  • Reduces the appearance of enlarged pores.
  • Seamless.
  • Streak-proof!
  • Photo friendly. Won't give a white, ghostly cast on your face.

NEUTRAL
  • Sheer-Medium coverage. Some like'em thick.

CONS
  • I can't think of any... Reeeeally.

HOW I USE IT: Use a foundation brush to apply this foundation because the formula is quite runny. You will end up wasting a lot. 3 pumps will cover my whole face and neck. Start with the nose working your way outward towards the jaw and hair line.

    1. Yes the coverage will be full when you set it with powder foundation. It will look more natural though if you set it with loose powder ♥
