Fake it with Pixi's Flawless Poreless Face Primer

by - Thursday, March 20, 2014

I don't usually use face primers because I have always thought that they were just an extra step to a makeup routine. I never had trouble of foundation slipping of my face either that's why I didn't find primers a necessity.

But for those women who need the extra insurance of making their foundation base last the whole day, and when I say whole day, I mean from before work until long after working hours for night out with friends, or date night!

After I got to try Pixi's Flawless and Poreless Primer, my faith in makeup primers returned.

Pixi by Petra Flawless and Poreless Face Primer 30ml, PhP 1,430

I received this primer from Pixi at the event I attended (thank you!), and I'm very excited to try it after hearing so much raves and rants about this wonder product.

(Click READ MORE to know more...)

It comes in only one shade, which is translucent. It has a little bit of tint but I will get to that.

Pixi is one of the biggest names in cosmetics in the UK, and I tell you, they do have something to brag about. Their products specialize in "just pretty" makeup, making you look your best and bringing out your best features, not hiding them with makeup.

A makeup brand that is no-fuss, no-mess to use, very simple for everyday use for every woman (or girl!). No major promises when it comes to their makeup philosophy, just that they work like they should. That's what I love about Pixi, because I have always promoted natural looking makeup.

I love their packaging, their very classic pastel chartreuse trademark that can be spotted from afar. LOL yes, sometimes I can be that shallow when it comes to packaging.

This is their 30ml tube. A flat and wide tube that is very compact and doesn't take up a lot of space in your dresser or your cosmetic bag! Perfect for travelling too!

So, their promise: Pore minimizing, shine free, hydrating, oil free, and hypoallergenic -for all skin types.

This is just a swatch of the product. To use this product, you will need more than just a drop to cover your entire face. I used about a pea-size amount to cover my face. It's that economical! In Tagalog, matipid!

It has a slightly gel-like consistency, just like any other primer. This one has a slight tint though. Don't worry about shades because it spreads clear.

Once you spread it, it dries transparent. It creates a very soft and velvet-like veil on the skin which is very smooth to the touch, filling in fine lines, potholes and craters. I love the smell because it smells like skin care -you know what I mean. I don't know how else to describe it.

This is me without primer. I must say, that I am proud of my skin's texture. The appearance however is not so good. I have a lot of acne scars because I have been breaking out recently, and I have dark spots that need tending as well. But the texture is quite good. I have been very good and religious with my skin care so I love the results it has given me (not that I'm bragging... LOL).

I applied a thin layer of primer on my face after moisturizing. Make sure not to put too much because this could do more harm than good. I have had experience with too thick a primer that the foundation doesn't want to stick to it anymore. So use sparingly.

Start from your nose applying outward towards your hairline.

I applied foundation 5 minutes after I applied my primer. It made the foundation glide on smoother, so applying creamier foundations will be a breeze with this primer.

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS:
PROS
  • Easy to apply even without moisturizing.
  • Foundation glides on evenly.
  • Fills in fine lines on the eye area giving a smooth canvas for foundation on concealer.
  • Doesn't make the foundation cake.
  • Affordable for the price.
  • Mutes redness of the skin (acne scars, natural rosey cheeks)
  • Makes the foundation last longer.
  • May be used with powder foundation or face powder as well.
  • Lightweight.
  • Does not feel sticky.
  • Can be applied with fingers.
  • Does not cause product build up!
  • Moisturizes dry patches, making foundation glide on smoothly over the area (sides of my mouth).
  • Non-irritating around the eye area.
  • Perfect for all skin tones, color, and type!
  • Easily available in glamourbox.ph of select Snoe stores!

NEUTRAL
  • N/A

CONS
  • Did not really conceal the large pores on my nose.

    1. Well, not that it's really necessary but some women like the extra insurance primers give them. I have been doing makeup on other people for 10 years and I don't use primers, but the makeup still lasts a long time. Some people find that primers give them a smoother canvas to work with, specially women who have problematic skin. But if you have normal skin, then it's OK to skip the primer :)

  3. I want to try this because I have big pores -_- And if it truly hydrates, then I want this. <3
