My Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream Haul

#liptalktuesdays

Ugh. I'm sick. Again.

One of the hardest things about going through pregnancy with a toddler is that they bring all kinds of viruses. Just when you thought your immune system is strong enough, you're wrong. When I was pregnant with Henri, I never got a cold. But with this pregnancy, it seems every time Henri brings home a cold, I can't seem to escape it! Ugh! I'm now addicted to Berocca, and have face masks in stock.

That's the reason why I haven't blogged in 2 days. But I am feeling slightly better to sit long enough to write. And to make me feel better and cheery, I would like to tell you all about the recent Sleek Matte Me lippie haul I had. If you don't know already, I love Sleek's Matte Me in Rioja Red and I just got addicted to the formula so I went to the Sleek counter at Landmark (as soon as I heard that their Matte Me in Birthday Suit was in stock) and bought myself 3 more shades: Fired Up, Brink Pink, and Birthday Suit.

I don't think I even have to say anything more about Sleek's Matte Me Cream Lipsticks because they just speak for themselves. If you are looking to start a matte liquid lipstick collection, Sleek is a good brand to start because they only have 8 shades available (for now), so it doesn't get too confusing. Specially if you're easily confused like me when it comes to lipstick making decisions.

They are quite affordable too, priced at only PhP 450 each!

I can never do a good swatch on my hand unlike other bloggers where they do creative swatches, but nonetheless, here are the swatches of these three shades I got.
Fired Up is the kind of deep red I haven't seen in a while and that's one of the reasons why I had to get this shade. It's a deep kind of red that does not shout RED! when you wear it. It's sophisticated for night, but wearable during the day too. I know I say this about all red lipsticks I review, it's just that red is just so versatile! You'll see once you get addicted to red lippies too!

I guess the only comment I have about this shade is that it's trickier to apply than Rioja Red. Its deep color makes it harder to apply because if you don't apply it evenly, it will show on the lips where some parts of your lips are darker than the others. I recommend moisturizing and mega moisturizing with petroleum jelly in the evening if you'd like to wear this shade.

Dry and flaky lips are also emphasized with this shade. It's a little unforgiving.
Brink Pink was not what I was hoping it would be. It looked a lot different at the store than when I got home. I was actually looking for a pink lippie more like MAC's Girl About Town or LA Girl's Color Rich Lipstick in Baby Fuchsia. But as it turns out, it's quite neon.

And when I say neon, it's NEON.

This one is tricky to apply too. You will have to layer it on your lips to get the full potential of the lippie. I applied only a single layer on my lips and you can see how "sheer" it appears. I can still see the skin on my lips. I didn't layer it on because to be quite honest, I got a little scared of the shade. It was just way too bright for me.

Even though it's too neon for my taste, I still love wearing it with a nude eye and bronzed cheeks. It's so Paris Hilton.
Now, Birthday Suit is something every girl must own. It actually changes with every skin tone and that's what I love about it. On me, it looks a little peachy-nude, on some others it goes a little bit darker on. And on some women it even looks a little bit mauve.

Birthday Suit has the most similar texture and formula as Rioja Red in terms on how it glides on easily on the lips like water. It takes also a few seconds to completely dry on your lips so you have time to define your lips with the tip, or wipe any erasures you may have.
So if you’re a newbie in terms of makeup or looking to experiment with a matte liquid lipstick, Sleek Matte Mes are fairly affordable and come in 8 shades, making them the perfect place to start! Similarly, I think they’re great if you’re already a fan of the matte lip product and are looking to expand your collection.

Have you tried any of Sleek's matte lip creams? Which one is your favorite shade?
