Eyebrow Week Part 2 Day 4: The Maybelline Eyebrow Collection

by - Wednesday, October 05, 2016

Maybelline has stepped up their brow game, and it's a slam dunk! Several months back, they started with their brow mascara and their eyebrow Sharp Pencil which I reviewed a few months back (you can find links below), and now they added a few more brow choices so that you have more mediums to choose from on which version you are most comfortable in using!

I am most intrigued with their 3D Brow and Nose Palette because it contains the nose shadow powder. And the Fashion Brow Duo Shaper because it is similar to K-Palette (emphasis on the similar, this is not a dupe to K-Palette), where there is a pencil on one side, and a brow powder on one end with sponge tip applicator. We will get into that more later.

Maybelline Eyebrow Collection

Whenever I meet people who find out I am a makeup artist or a beauty blogger, they always ask me what I would recommend for a good eyebrow product. Something that would make the brows look natural, and one that would last all day. I always tell them two things: 1. They should always have well groomed brows as to make applying makeup on them easier, and 2. Price does not matter when it comes to doing the brows, it's what works well for you and your skin type.

I remember when I started out as a makeup artist back in 2004 when makeup was really limited. I used Ever Bilena's old Eyebrow duo which worked pretty well for me until slowly, new popular makeup brands started popping up.
3D BROW AND NOSE PALETTE
This one is also one my favorite brow products from maybelline because it contains a nose shadowing powder. You can basically use any contouring powder for the nose (like Canmake's Nose Shadow Powder), but if you have products for the brow and the nose in one palette then why not?
Maybelline 3D Brow and Nose Palette, PhP 349
This is a little trickier to use for me because the tiny brush is hard to control so you'd have to bring a good angled brush for this one, and another one to use with the nose powder. But if you will be applying your makeup at home anyway, then this is one of my top choices from the collection.

If you are a beginner though, then I would not recommend this one.
The darkest shade in the kit is actually the brow wax. You use is to define the shape of the brow you want and then you use the middle shade to fill in the brows. Make sure that you blend them well together! Then you use the lightest shade to create a nose line on the sides of the nose and also on the bridge of the nose to create a more three dimensional look.

When doing your makeup, one must never forget the nose line so that you won't look flat in person and in photos.
I love how these shades are not orange-y. Some contouring powders may look brown on the pan but when applied it has a sickly orange-y hue that just doesn't go well with my skin tone (or anyone, actually!)
I also used the nose shading powder to contour the cheekbones, but that is not seen in this photo. As you can see, the nose contour looks really natural, just a hint of shade on the sides of the nose that creates depth and dimension to your whole look.
EYESTUDIO FASHION BROW MASCARANow this Eye Studio Fashion Eyebrow 24H Coloring Mascara I reviewed already two years ago, but I just wanted to include this too for today's spotlight feature on Maybelline's brow collection! You can read the review on this brow mascara HERE.

FASHION BROW SHARP PENCIL
This is the Fashion Brow Sharp Pencil and I have reviewed the Sharp Pencil several months back, and you can view the write up HERE, so I won't say more about this product in this post.

MAYBELLINE EYE STUDIO MASTERBROW PENCIL
The Master Brow reminds me of Majolica Majorca's Sword Cut Brow Customize. It's a flat product but this one is not cut slanted at the tip.
Maybelline Eye Studio MasterBrow Pencil, PhP 249
It contains 3cm of product which is one of the longer ones. Most brands only provide 2.5cm so this is a plus for me.
I really had a hard time controlling this pencil because of the flat shape of the product without an angle, so I ended up having one side of my brow darker than the other one. It takes a while getting used to this product so I wouldn't recommend this product for beginners as well.

I am not completely disregarding this product though, I will still give this a chance and find out the easiest way to use this product!
FASHION BROW DUO SHAPER
As I have mentioned earlier, this is the product I was most excited to try, it being almost like K-Palette's Lasting 2Way Eyebrow Pencil where one end contains the pencil, while on the other end is the brow powder.
Maybelline Fashion Brow Duo Shaper, PhP 399
It contains 2.5cm of product and it has a slightly hard waxy texture, which doesn't require too much pressure to be applied on the brows.
I love how the shade is pretty universal, you can use this shade whether you are brunette or blonde.

Using the brow duo shaper is pretty easy! You just have to use the brow pencil to draw the shape that you want, and you fill in your brows with the powder. Use short hair-like strokes to avoid the drawn-tattoo like look.
If you ask me, which of Maybelline's brow products I would recommend, I would say go for convenience and go with the Fashion Brow Duo Shaper. It's basically drawing your brow shape and filling in the lines. It contains both a brow pencil and the brow powder that creates a more natural brow look.

Have you tried any of Maybelline's Brow products before? Which one is your favorite?
