Pixy Coverlast Compact Powder

by - Thursday, July 23, 2015

Lately, I want everything on-the-go including makeup. My mommy friends have told me before that I will hardly enough time to put on a face when I have a baby and I would always think "what's 15 minutes to put on makeup?" But when Henri was born, i finally learned what they were talking about. There are mornings when I want to leave in a rush and no time to put on liquid foundation! I want something fast and easy, and spending too much time in the mirror was just a no-no for me.

I have always known how to put on makeup fast, but nowadays, I seem to be putting on makeup double the usual time and I am out the door. So, when I tried Pixy's UV Whitening Compact Powder Coverlast, I was actually quite impressed.

Pixy UV Whitening Compact Powder Coverlast, PhP 325

I love how Pixy Cosmetic make their packaging look so girly. I received the Natural shade which is not the lightest shade. It comes in 3 other shades: there's cream, ivory, and honey.
Pixy claims that this powder contains the microsphere powder technology that cover skin blemishes effectively making makeup look natural and evenly smooth on the skin. It also has an oil-control function for longer lasting makeup. Best part is that it contains SPF20, PA++, and natural whitening Powder and Vitamin C. Two things I love  in skin care!

It contains Mineral Oil which will act as a skin protectant not allowing dirt, oil and other pollutants to enter the skin. It's moisturizing too!
I love it's pretty simple packaging because it is quite compact and easy to bring around in your purse for touchups.
What makes me love this packaging is that the sponge is separate. I don't understand why other brands don't just switch to this kind of packaging once and for all. It preserves the powder and it's very hygienic too! If the sponge gets dirty, all you have to do is throw it out without contaminating the powder.
This is a nice yellow-base shade that has a velvet-y texture that glides on the skin smoothly.
It has a medium-full coverage depending on the tool you use to apply it with. Brush gives it a lighter finish, while a sponge will give you a fuller coverage.
I have been using this powder alone with no makeup base because I am always rushing out the door. You see, mornings are now reserved for cuddle time with Henri and the next thing I know I'm running late and I'm scrambling to put on a good face before I head out.
With out liquid foundation, I used the sponge to give my makeup a more full coverage. It feels very light on the skin and it doesn't feel chalky at all. I don't like it when pressed powders feel chalky on the skin. This one is surprisingly hydrating and it feels like second skin even with the heavy coverage.

It did not completely cover my freckles but it's enough to make me look flawless and put together.
Here's me with the rest of my face! I am loving this liquid hippie from Wet N' Wild: Wet n' Wild MegaLast Liquid Lip Color in Cherry on Top, I have been using this hippie a lot lately too since it's really waterproof that you don't need to retouch every couple of hours.
You want something thicker? Pixy has Ultimate Makeup Cake which allows a wet or dry application!

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS:
Length of usage before review: Everyday for 1 week

PROS
  • Absorbs oil very well.
  • Long-lasting coverage.
  • Non-chalky. Applies velvety-smooth.
  • Will work well as setting powder (use brush though!)
  • Non-drying.
  • Face won't feel tight or taught. Moisturizing.
  • Provides skin protection.
  • Contains silica which absorbs oil through out the day.
  • Did not clog my pores.
  • Catered specially for Asians!
  • Non-irritating formula.
  • Powder feels flexible on the skin. Doesn't feel like it will crack!
  • Does not cake or pool specially on oily skin.
  • Great packaging.
  • Blocks UV Rays and prevents melanin production for tisays.
  • Perfect for women on-the-go. You can skip applying liquid foundation.
  • Affordable!

NEUTRAL
  • N/A

CONS
  • Does not cover blemishes well when applied without a liquid base. I recommend using a sponge for a full coverage.
  • Skin looks dry when applied dry and on its own. Can emphasize dry skin even more if you don't apply a moisturiser first!
