TheBalm What's Your Type? Tall, Dark, and Handsome Black Mascara
#eyespymondays
It's so hard for me to find the right mascara because I have sensitive eyes and my eyes lose its curl easily once applied with a mascara. It's actually frustrating. There are so many good mascaras out there but my lashes seem to not hold its curl, except for a few brands. But lately, I have discovered TheBalm's What's Your Type? Tall Dark and Handsome Black Mascara and the formula is very promising!
I have been using it for about a month already and it really made a good impression. It held my curl intact, plus it made my lashes look fuller. More about this mascara after the break!
TheBalm What's Your Type? Tall, Dark and Handsome Black Mascara |
This line of mascaras from TheBalm are just too cute! Aside from Tall, Dark, and Handsome (which gives you length and making your thin lashes dark), they have The Body Builder (which is for extreme volumizing), and Cheater (which is also volumizing that gives you a look of wearing false eyelashes).
Formulated with Panthenol, Olive Wax, and Rice Wax, this non-clumping mascara meets all your needs. Take your look to new heights with an innovative separating, injection molded brush that combs through each lash ensuring a smooth application and long, defined lashes. The best thing about TheBalm's mascaras is that it is very safe for pregnant women (or just women in general) because they are paraben-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, and triclosan-free!
The brush is what they call the "Separating, injection molded brush", which makes it easier for you to reach those short lashes and can really coat each and individual lashes perfectly.
I layered on this mascara three times to get this kind of effect. The formula is pretty thin so it took a while to get the effect that I wanted which was full of volume and made them look longer. In spite of the three coats, they didn't weigh my lashes down which is always a good sign for me.
The reason why it looks a little bit clumpy and a little bit too thick on my lashes it's because I have been using this mascara for about a month already so the formula has thickened already quite a bit before I was able to take a photo of myself. I really did that on purpose to experiment on the mascara whether if the "thicker" oxidized mascara will hold the curls on my lashes. Which to my surprise did beautifully!
TheBalm brand is very good in spite of them being known to come out with natural and paraben-free products. Their price points may be on the pricey side but you will find that you get quality cosmetics and ingredients. Their products don't smear or get flakey.
If you want thick, fat lashes get "the body builder" mascara. Tall, Dark and Handsome mascara is good if you want to elongate and volumize short thin lashes. I have sort-of thin lashes so I need the body builder but this is the one gifted to me by TheBalm to try.
HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS:
Length of usage before review: 1 month.
PROS
- Does not sting. Some mascaras sting the eyes making them feel real dry causing you to blink a lot and your eyes to water excessively.
- Smooth formula. Very easy to apply.
- Holds the curl really well specially if the mascara formula has "thickened" already because it has oxidized.
- Dries quickly and sets very black.
- Easy to build layers. Dries quickly after each layer.
- Does not bleed even when you tear or sweat.
- Smudge-proof.
- Original, unique brush makes it easy to apply in-between and really thin lashes.
- Standard mascara tube makes it easy to hold and control.
- Does not have a strong smell.
- Paraben-free
- Easily available in Beauty Bar.
NEUTRAL
- Takes a few uses for you to get the hang of it, and get the mascara to get a thicker formula.
CONS
- N/A
