#liptalktuesdays

One of the best things about blogging about beauty is that you get first dibs and get to try the latest of cosmetics out there. I have heard of the brand OFRA before, but I never had the chance to open them and take them out for a spin. I got one liquid lipstick from a Glamourbox, and the others from the OFRA team themselves.

From their Facebook page:

"OFRA Cosmetics has been a leader in the cosmetics industry for twenty years, bringing beauty to women in the U.S. and all over the world. We cater to professionals with makeup kits to enhance your skills and techniques. We know what you do and how you do it, and we tailor our products to fit your needs.
We provide a broad range of superior quality cosmetics created from the finest ingredients available. Our pro makeup is perfect for professional application and instruction, incredible under the camera, and fabulous for every day use."

I guess you can say that I am a lipstick kinda gal. I love collecting them having more than 100 lippies in my collection, there's always room for more right?

I forgot to take a photo of the ingredients list of the Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks so I had to be more resourceful with Google, and found this photo from the peachypinksisters.blogspot.com (thank you!):

Although I can't say that I am an expert on lipstick, I just love experimenting on different formulas and pigments. It completes your makeup look, a lipstick will make you achieve a look you are aiming for versus balms. With that being said, allow me to tell you about my experience on OFRA's lip color line starting with the Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks.

The Liquid Lippie Line comes in long slim tubes with a felt-tip slanted wand typically found in lip glosses. Some of their shades are sheer while some are hyper pigmented. I like the matte, pigmented ones the best.

Here are my swatches on the three liquid lipsticks that I got: Purple Rain, Laguna Beach and Hollywood. I would have wanted a red one too so maybe I will shop for that soon. I love matte red lippies. Did I tell you how much I love the smell of their lipsticks? Sort of vanilla-ish and something that I can't really place. It smells familiar but I can't put my finger on it. I love smelling them!

Purple rain has a sort of shimmer/pearlized finish, while Laguna Beach and Hollywood finishes matte. I will show you swatches on my lips later below.
Now moving on with the regular cream lipsticks, I love the sleek packaging that OFRA lipsticks come in. It reminds me of MUA's lipsticks' packaging too with a mix of MAC and NYX.

I received two wearable shades from OFRA, Fuchsia and Amethyst. I have always loved lipstick packaging that has a clear bottom or top so you can easily tell which one you're trying to reach out for.
The lipsticks are properly labeled too. Very simple and very straight forward. No need for squinting in trying to read the name of the shade! You know what I mean. Hahaha! Although some blogs have mentioned that some of their lippies didn't have shade names, only numbers. I will have to look more into that one.
Both cream lipsticks have a creamy finish, but neither are they glossy. It has a nice sheen finish to it. It's long lasting and highly pigmented.

I guess the shade that attracted me the most (which surprised me actually), was OFRA's Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Laguna Beach. It flattered my complexion real well. I usually go for the bright colored lippies but this time I went for the natural look.

The liquid lipstick finish reminds me of Revlon ColorStay's Ultimate Liquid Lipstick. They both dry instantly and highly pigmented. A bit sticky at first but it has a tattooed look finish on the lips that won't budge even when you eat and drink!

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS:
Length of usage before review: Alternating for 1 week (except for Purple Rain)

PROS
  • Both are long lasting and highly pigmented.
  • A lot of shades available to choose from.
  • I love the smell of both lipsticks.
  • Does not make the lips crack after being worn for a long time.
  • Can be applied easily, glides on like balm (but not at all like balm)
  • Highly pigmented!
  • Easy to apply and create a good shape for your lips.
  • Hydrates the lips.
  • Safe for women, no lead or mercury!

NEUTRAL
  • Available online only for now and Glamourbox kiosks.
  • Unconventional lipstick shades (blue, green, purple, etc.) are not useable for everyday, only for high fashion shoots maybe.

CONS
  • Liquid Lipstick has a slightly sticky finish after applying and lasts quite a bit.

MY OVERALL RATING: ★★★★

  2. Laguna beach is really wearable and compliments any look. I got one from Glamourbox Flawless Beauty box, and I am so happy I got to try it. What I love most about Ofra Lasting Liquid Lipstick aside from the color is the scent. It's kind of vanilla scented, do you agree? It easily glides to lips and dries in in about 2 minutes. It is really pigmented and lasts long. It does not stain glass or utensils, but I had an experience where I ate pasta and color in the inside of my lips flaked. Also, a problem I got from matte liquid lipstick is the re-application. I tried to apply another coat on top after eating, but it looks thick and uneven. So maybe, I need to remove everything before application? Have you experienced this issue Miss Sabs, not only with Ofra but with other liquid/velvet matte lipsticks? I wish to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
