Receiving the latest makeup from different brand is always welcome! I love getting to know latest products and tell you girls all about them, specially to all you makeup artists out there! Makeup artists should start looking at other makeup brands specially when doing makeup for brides because these women are "real" women and not models so their skin concerns vary from one to the next, some are even more sensitive than the other.

I love keeping Clinique foundation handy in my professional kit because some brides of mine have problematic skin that can't handle MAC or Makeup Forever. Check out these new products from Clinique that works wonders on skin that are in trouble!

More after the break!

I am always on the lookout for good foundations to recommend to people when they ask me what's a good brand. I use all the foundations I opened to review, and use them in rotation. Although the foundations that I use are great! Like Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus All-Smooth Makeup with SPF25, or Lancôme ABSOLUE Sublime Rejuvinating Essence Foundation, or Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15 PA+  , or Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Makeup, or even Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse -all great foundations but are a bit too heavy looking for an everyday errand. I needed  something that was a good foundation that I can wear everyday when I am not attending events, but something to make me look flawless and put together, something that lets my skin breathe, won't feel to heavy and make my skin breakout, and doesn't have SPF (because I am currently using a base that already has SPF).
Some people who have tried this foundation say that the shade selection is very limited especially for the average Filipina skin. The ladies at Clinique who sent me this foundation matched me to a cream beige and it's a very good match. I have a little bit of a red and yellow undertone and it matched me perfectly.

Some would get iffy that this foundation includes dimethicone (which is a silicone added to the foundation), but it never really bothered me that much.
Lately, my skin, as mentioned in my previous blog posts, that it has been getting drier when I do not use products with silicone. It's actually saving me from having to flake when I use oil-free foundations. If you are on a drying medication for your acne treatment, oral or topical, this foundation may be for you because the silicone makes it glide on your skin smoothly and tames the flakes on your skin. Although some dermatologists would advise against silicone when you are acne-prone. Best to ask your derma!
It has an eye-drop type of opening, the reason behind it I wouldn't know, but I have seen several foundations with this kind of bottle before. Curious, very curious indeed.
The only downside with Clinique would be that is is costly for teenagers or girls who are still in college. It's a great foundation for young skin because it's not harsh, but pricey for that age group. Although some would save up for the best products for quality cosmetics. Wouldn't you?

This foundation has a very light feathery consistency that glides on the skin with the least amount of pressure to spread it on your skin. It sets in a velvet-y finish that won't cake when set with powder.
In my experience when I used this foundation on several occasions, my skin itched less and my skin felt plump and less cake-y. It does not go on greasy on the skin like some silicone-based foundations out there, instead, this foundation acted like a primer that fills in fine lines to create a very smooth canvas.

Photographed below is a close-up profile photo of me. You can see that the foundation didn't really sit well on the huge pores on my knows. It did provide my skin good coverage to create a smooth canvas for makeup, but it didn't really have a heavy enough coverage to cover my really dark acne scars.
When set with loose powder, the foundation looks very fresh and light on the face without you looking overly dry or too cake-y. I really don't understand all the negative comments people have against this foundation when in fact it's great for women with a bit of trouble on their skin.

I used this foundation on one of my brides who was breaking out and the result was very flawless. The coverage lasted her the whole day until after the reception and she told me that she didn't oil that much too. I guess this foundation is best for when you want good coverage without the heavy coverage.
CLINIQUE CHUBBY STICK CHEEK COLOUR BALM

Since the launch of Clinique’s Cheek Pop Blushes I started to look at their color cosmetics in a completely different way -a good way. Clinique wasn’t always my first choice when it came to color cosmetics because I always saw Clinique as being great for skin care and foundations, but they have been impressing me lately with their makeup line lately.

I was super excited to be given the chance to try the new Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in Amp'd Up Apple and it really did not disappoint at all. With Clinique rolling with the Chubby Stick trend which is starting to grow everywhere, they made a formula of cream blushes in stick form that comes with different gorgeous shades.
I am in love with this blush! When I received this blush from my Clinique family, realising what they had done -applying the crayon format to blush, I was a bit skeptical thinking it could just be any other chubby stick.
However, this product does exactly what it says--"A creamy, mistake-proof cheek color that creates a healthy-looking glow in an instant."

I received this blush in Amp'd Up Apple, which is NOT at all red. It's a beautiful neutral, cool, pinkish shade (more on tawny actually) -well, whatever the shade, it's so pretty!
Clinique calls it a gel formula, but I find it more on the creamy, opaque, side and quite pigmented too. It is also extremely moisturizing, so women with oily skin will not like it. But what is amazing is that you can apply this blush on already set face with powder and it will not create an icky paste like substance.
With just two swirls on the apples of my cheeks, plus a quick blend with my middle and ring fingers it gave me a wonderful, natural glow--perfect with any kind if lipstick: whether a bold red or a sunny orange. It can go with any shade!

What you can do too is to apply this on the apples of your cheeks and layer on a powder blush to make your blush really last! Sort of like a primer for your blush.
If you have dry(ish) skin and you like how cream blushes work on your skin, and you just want to simplify your routine, then this is the product for you.

  2. Funny thing is, I used to love cream blush. Especially in college, I needn't to look presentable fast, but I was always puyat and didn't have much time to slap on some makeup. Then I discovered powder blushes and fell in love with the more refined look they gave. But this year, I'm starting to open up to cream blush again. A lot of the local beauty bloggers I follow are raving about Chanel or Bobbi Brown. I've swatched both, and I've realized that the ones I use before don't hold a candle in terms of quality, blendability, and texture. (This is not to say that I am a snob, but I am a bit more discerning. I stopped using cream blush because I found it hard to blend, whereas a good quality one is high on pigment yet easy to blend.)

This is an interesting one. I haven't heard much about Clinique Chubby Stick Blushes, so I'll have to go and give it a swatch. :)
