#eyespymondays #spotlight

Happy Monday with Happy Skin! Today is day one of the 3-Day Happy Skin Spotlight. First feature is their newly launched Gel Pencil Eyeliners! To be completely honest, eyeliners are white noise to me because I always thought that an eyeliner is an eyeliner is an eyeliner. Eyeliners' staying power depends on the skin of who's wearing it, I always thought and based on experience. But Happy Skin proved me wrong, and what I experienced in my 10 years as a makeup artist was moot.

Imagine, being in the industry for a decade: I believed in the same philosophy.  Of course there are eyeliners that I absolutely love, and more long lasting than the other, although that may be true... But wouldn't it be nice to have an eyeliner that is highly pigmented and long lasting for all types of skin type? No matter how oily their lids are? That would be just awesome.

Taking almost a year to perfect, Happy Skin's Eye Am Here to Stay gel liners promise to stand by you through happy and sad tears. You can cry all you want and still look pretty!

As usual, Happy Skin's packaging blew me away. I love colorful attractive packaging, and packaging that works and don't fall apart is just extra points for me. Totally first class. Don't you just love fun packaging?

The NEW Gel Eyeliner Auto Pencils come in 3 smashing shades: The classic Perfect Black, Chic Brown, and Peppermint. These liners can be drawn as a straight up liner, or smudge it for a smokey look. You just have to be fast though because once it sets, it stays and won't stray!

Let me start with the Chic Brown liner. The pencil is automatic so you just have to twist the end of the pencil and the product comes out.

I am a fan of brown eyeliner because it defines the eyes without making your eyes look too gothic. It goes with any pastel color or any other bright eyeshadow shade. It creates one of the most natural looking smokey eye for the day, and it's just love!

Now, auto pencils are hard to stay sharp, I get it. That's why I don't buy auto mechanical pencils! But don't fret! Happy Skin's got your back!

The pen comes with a tiny sharpener that's made specially for their gel eyeliner! YAY for Happy Skin! You just pull out the end of the liner where you twist it, and out comes the tiny sharpener! This is just ingenious! Totally a big help for us eyeliner addicts out there. No need to bring a separate sharpener.

I love the light brown shade of this liner. It's wearable both for day or night. Smokey eye for the day? Why not? I love that it's not too dark, nor is it too light too that you can hardly see it!

I decided to wear it as a regular eyeliner, straight up. I didn't try smudging it because I wanted to test the lasting power of the liner if the line is raw and thick. Yes, I opened my eyes just as it was freshly drawn on and no product was transferred on my lids. No drying time needed.

I applied a very thin line on my bottom lashes making it thicker on the outer corner and went really thin as I worked my way towards the inner corners. The end result is fresh looking! Defined eyes and lashes look thicker without me looking like I'm going on a night out.

Now moving on to the Peppermint pencil -For my brides, I always line the waterlines with a concealer pencil to make the eyes look brighter. Although it works worked, the eyes really do sparkle, it goes away after just a few blinks though. I don't like using white liner because they are too stark and it looks dated. Too 1960's.

Now comes the Eye Am Here to Stay in Peppermint. No, it's not Peppermint flavored and it won't sting your eyes. There's no menthol here! Just a subtle, delicate shade of mint to line your waterlines with.

Not only is this for your waterlines, but you can wear it as a regular liner if you are brave enough to sport colored liners. I know I am! But I am more curious of the effect it will give my eyes when worn on the waterlines.

And same with the Chic Brown eyeliner, it comes with a tiny sharpener too! This is just great! I can't get over it. LOL

Take a look at that beautiful mint shade. It's cool on the eyes and it's not overly GREEN, like La Salle Green, but a more fresh and soothing to the eyes kind of green.

According to creators Jacque and Rissa, they came up with this shade because green is meant to counter redness (which is a fact in the makeup world), while white and off white shades just make your eyes look more yellow. Makes sense.

Look at my photo below, my eyes look brighter and bigger without making my eyes look weirdly green or yellow. I love that even if you tear up (like I am in the photo), the liner doesn't budge. It's very stubborn, it won't move even if you want it to. Ha!

  4. Is it also safe to use when tightlining? I mean I've tried some eyeliners that smudge away hours after application :(

    1. Yes, it's safe to use when tightlining :) It worked very well for me and it lasted the whole day naman :) It's a gel liner, so chances of this staying on your eyes too are higher! ♥ They have testers in Happy Skin counters, best way to find out is try it first and wear it the whole day and see if it lasts on you :)
