Happy Skin's SS Cream should stand for Skin Saving Cream!

#productfeature

My sister asked me to go makeup shopping with her a few days ago. She was looking for a foundation that had excellent coverage but looked very natural. I recommended Happy Skin because that is the base that I have been using recently, and have grown quite obsessed with it actually.

I am in love with Happy Skin's Don't Get Mad Get Even Moisturizing Liquid foundation (let's call it DGMGE for now). Knowing my sister's preference when it comes to makeup, I knew she would like it. When we got to Beauty Bar Greenbelt 5, I showed her the DGMGE foundation. She then asked about the SS Cream and the beauty associate told us that it had a lighter feel on the skin but had good coverage as well.

I have heard of their SS Cream before but I have never tried it before, not even in the launch. That's because I immediately fell in love with the DGMGE foundation I didn't want to try anything else. LOL

Happy Skin SS Cream 30ml, PhP 1,199

(Click READ MORE to know more...)

She was more interested with the SS Cream (it had her at "lighter"), so we sampled both foundations on her skin applying one side with DGMGE foundation, and one side with the SS Cream. Although both melted perfectly on skin, you can clearly see that the DGMGE foundation had a fuller coverage, while the SS Cream gave a more natural, seamless result.

My sister chose the SS Cream for her, and I was so jealous that I had to get one for myself too! I didn't have to test anymore because I already know my shade at Happy Skin. If you have been reading my blog, then you would know all about Happy Skin (...aaaand how much I love their packaging).

With an affordable price tag, PhP 1,199 is worth it for 30ml because you don't need a whole lot to cover the entire face. Plus, the texture is so worth it.

The box says it all. Everything you need to know about the product is printed on the box. Short and sweet but precise product information.

Fuss-free when choosing shades because their Soft Beige shade is a spot-on match on my skin each time. When you ask my makeup artist friends who have done my makeup in the past they will all say the same thing: my skin tone is very weird. I always laugh at that because it's very true. I hardly find foundations and powders that matches my skin.

It may seem such a small tube for the its price, but I guarantee you that a little really does go a long way. I used a pea-sized amount to cover my entire face spreading from the center going towards the hair line.

Compact and travel friendly! I love that it comes in a tube instead of the typical foundation bottles which is heavy to bring when travelling.

I am not really sure why the tube has a pointed tip for this cream. I think it's because you only need a small amount of product to cover the entire face.

It has a slightly more runny consistency that liquid foundation, but it glides like a moisturizer. I love that when I use my hands to apply the cream, my skin doesn't get pulled. It glides on smoothly on the surface of the skin.

If I were to give this cream another name, then SS would stand for Skin Saver. The reason for that is because it really saves your skin from having a bad skin day. Yes, I get those. Sometimes I wake up and my skin just doesn't want to cooperate with me and the makeup that I have.

Days when my skin is just a little bit drier, a little bit redder, or a little bit sallow-er. If you suffer from the same dilemma, then the SS Cream is for you!

After applying the SS Cream on my skin (after a thin layer of moisturizing sunblock), I set it with a light dusting f loose powder. I skipped using a sponge this time so that the coverage will not be very thick. I wanted to see the effect it will have on my skin.

Believe it or not, these photos were taken at 11:30pm last night (hence, the tired/sleepy looking eyes). I left the house at 11:00 yesterday morning for meetings and running errands. I got home at 4pm and took a nap with my makeup on. Hubby picked me up at 7:00pm for our movie and dinner date.

Before leaving the house though, I didn't retouch my makeup (or retouch makeup any time of the day for that matter, except for the lipstick). I only used Gatsby oil blotting paper with built-in powder to remove excess oil.

I have no concealer on, but you can see that my dark circles were amazingly covered. It's fantastic that I don't need to use extra products on my face for those days when I am in a hurry in putting on my makeup, or when I am just plain lazy.

I love how my skin glows. You can see that it really does look like Second Skin. There's no trace of foundation anywhere.

It gave my skin excellent coverage and yet you can still see my skin shining through. If you want the ultimate no-makeup makeup look, then this is the foundation you would love.

I still prefer using DGMGE foundation for night outs and events because I really love the coverage of that one. The SS Cream is more for day time when you want the coverage, but still let your skin shine through.

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS:
PROS
  • Lightweight!
  • Medium-full coverage.
  • Non-greasy.
  • Safe for women with sensitive skin.
  • Subtle fragrance.
  • Skin adapting.
  • Melts into the skin.
  • Leaves skin moisturized the whole day, so oil production is controlled.
  • Non-comedogenic.
  • Affordable!
  • Readily available! Easy to obtain.
  • Compact! You can bring it when you travel.
  • Makes the skin look glowing!
  • Adapts to most skin tones/shades.
  • I didn't have the urge to keep wiping my face with Gatsby every hour. Keeps the skin looking dewy but not oily.
  • Long-lasting! I tested it and it lasted more than 12 hours!
  • Does not cake not does it give a pooling effect on the skin
  • Does not fade. Comparable to airbrush foundation.

NEUTRAL
  • Doesn't  completely hide freckles and other dark spots.
  • Doesn't cover up pimples 100%

CONS
  • N/A

How I Used It: Make sure that your hands are clean before you apply the SS Cream. What I did was, I cleansed my face and applied moisturizer with sunblock. After 10 minutes, I squeezed a pea-sized amount of SS Cream on my middle finger and spread it from the central part of my face until the hairlines.

Will I re-purchase? Yes.
Will I recommend it? Yes.

MY OVERALL RATING: ★★★★★+

  1. I am really curious with this product and thank goodness for this product review of yours Miss Sabs! I agreed with you, I like DGMGE than this one (base on your review and photos). I have the DGMGE which I got as a price during their Valentines promo on Ig and I am so obsessed with it right now. At first I thought it won't cover my blemishes on my face kasi it was runny and very light weight but I was shocked and amazed when I applied 2 layers of it on my face plus it does stays long without even retouching. :D I might get the concealer na lang next time.

  2. Looks like a second skin indeed. I am not big on foundation because I feel like i don't really need it as I have small pores, but I think I am going to try this one.

    1. Yes it's a fantastic product! :) Although foundation is not only for women with big pores, foundation is all about evening out your skin tone, color, and creating a very smooth canvas for applying color on your face ♥ it also protects your skin from impurities like pollution and prevents your face from burning from unwanted UV rays ♥

  3. I love it! I really prefer lightweight foundations 'cos I don't like the feeling of wearing heavier ones. I feel as if I'm wearing a mask! Haha. But yeah. I want to try out Happy Skin products. Even their lippies.

    1. Hello! If you have super oily skin, I would recommend using water-based (oil-free) foundations instead. Although the SS Créme is silicone free, I would suggest a water based, oil free foundation instead :) Use gel moisturizers before foundation, gel moisturizers control oil better than cream ones *wink*

  7. I was this super oily skin gal so I heavily relied on my HG mineral powder foundation which is the best foundation for oily skin for me (plus it's a local brand). Then recently I noticed my skin is getting slightly irritated by powders with strong absorption powders such as my HG foundation. I still get oily but I get irritations on my cheek and nose area. So I'm searching for a hydrating but long lasting foundation. Still deciding between this or the DGMGE liquid foundation or other foundations. I embrace my oily skin now mejo natakot ako nung feeling ko nagiging dry na skin ko XD
