Fuss-Free Fabulous Nails

#letsnailitsaturday

I was at Landmark shopping for unnecessary beauty stuff with one of my closest friends Carla a few days ago. And as we were about to pay, she asked me about nail foils/nail stickers that you frequently see in department stores and polish brands. I told her that a couple of months ago, I bought myself a box of Sally Hansen's Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips to try but didn't like it since I didn't do it right (coz it came out all wrinkly). She did however, still bought some (another brand) for herself to try since they were cheap anyway.

I regretted not buying some for myself as soon as I got home because I couldn't stop thinking about them. So, after my meeting in Greenbelt 5 yesterday with a client, I popped by Landmark to buy several designs from several different brands so I can give them another try. And I am so glad I did! (Carla, this is for you! ♥)

(Crediting FashionOxygen for the photo style. They did a B&W version of this, loved it, so I pegged it!♥ -this photo of me was taken by my hubby.)
There are a lot of high-end brands that have them like China Glaze (PhP 499.00+/-), OPI Nail Apps (PhP 800.00+/-), etc. But there are also cheap ones that work just as well, besides, they are basically just stickers so you don't have to worry about mercury being in the cheaper nail polishes. The only difference is, the more expensive ones have better designs and a wider range to choose from.

So I got from 5 different brands. They had more designs but these are the ones I found mostly... original? Unique? Whatever. I loved the colors and they were very affordable too!

LOVE and BEAUTY Perfect Manicure Nail Stickers (PhP 105.00). Yes it's a little more expensive than the local brands, but this one has little embellishments on them if you want a little bit more bling.

CALA Bling Nail Strips (199.50). This one has tiny embossed stars that are nice and shiny, sort of like glow in the dark but not really. Comes with 20 strips! You can always use the extra ones and mix 'em up with other designs.

XandD Nail Foils Professional Care (PhP 29.75). I love that these are very cheap and they have a nice glossy/pearlized finished to them. Their designs are also not that bad! Very chic!

BOBBIE Stick-on Nail Polish (PhP 84.75). Compared to XandD, this has 16 nail strips instead of 12, so you have more room for mistakes with this one.

SALLY HANSEN Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips (PhP 500.00). This little box comes with a nail stick and a nail file. This brand also has 16 strips.

HOW TO:
Now let me tell you how to put them on.

I chose this beautiful pink and black design. It's so girly, I love it! So anyway, after you've chosen your design, take it out of the packaging.

You can opt to follow the instructions at the back of the packaging but I did it my own way that worked well for me. After I've cleaned my nails and removed any traces of oil on my nails (use an alcohol soaked cotton pad), I removed the thin plastic film.

The strips will naturally be bigger than your nails so measure them at the sides and cut any extras. The curved part goes on the edge of your cuticles, and the straight edge goes to the tip of your nail. Do not cut the length, concentrate on the width (we'll be cutting the length after you have stuck them on your nails).
Remove the thin sticker polish from the cardboard by gently peeling it off holding it at the straighter edge. Apply gently and evenly on your nail and smooth out any wrinkles and bubbles. Then cut the edge with a pair of small, sharp scissors. Don't worry about the edges being perfect. We will fix that later. Now repeat these steps until you have applied on all of your nails.
File the edges downward so that the excess foil will be filed off and the edges smoothed out.

DONE! No waiting, no drying time! I love them!

By the way, DON'T make the mistake of applying clear nail polish on top of the foils. They will wrinkle up and shrink. I experimented on one of the nails and it bubbled up and wrinkled. I had to wait for it to dry so I can re-smoothen it again.

My verdict? A MUST TRY!

    1. Hmm... What top coat did you use? I should get one that you're using! :) Or maybe it's because I have the cheap strips on? :) I put on the more expensive ones they probably won't shrivel or wrinkle :) Thanks so much for the tip! ♥ HUGS!
