Yes! They're finally here! Makeup from the Maybelline Dream Collection is finally in Manila! I know, I know. My post is loooong over due. But isn't this great? People have seen my posts announcing Maybelline's Dream arriving via Instagram, but I only found time to review about it today.. Boo... Don't hate me!

Aside from the uber exciting foundations that arrived, the dream bouncy blush came too! Ooh-la-la. Something to get really excited about! Finally, makeup that is built to withstand the underestimated humidity of Manila!

Let me tell you something about airbrush: the reason why it is so popular is because it gives the appearance of full coverage without making your skin look like it was cemented, rather it gives a very flawless, velvet-silk smooth finish, and it feels like second skin. That is what airbrush is all about, and that is the effect that this new revolutionary foundation gives you.

A bunch of other brands have tried to sell their products as "airbrush" or "HD" effect, but those products that I have tried in the past were waaaay too thick to look like airbrush. This is the closest foundation base that I have tried that mirrors the finish of having your skin airbrushed.

You can use whatever foundation tool you want too apply it with and it would still not make you look too made up.
Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse (PhP 599.00 each)
Maybelline sent me 2 shades and I love them both, both I can use on myself and for my clients (which they all love by the way when I do traditional makeup):

This is NUDE BEIGE:

Although the packaging may seem like it is yellow-based, it has a slight pinkish undertone that may not be suitable for women with yellow undertones, it may look a tad ashy. So always always ALWAYS do the jawline swipe test for the right shade. It looks really yellow on camera but when you swipe it side by side (which I will show you later), you can see the obvious difference.

This one is SANDY BEIGE:

I love that it has a perfect yellow undertone, but the shade is too dark for my skin color. I used this on my sister who has a bit of morena skin, and it looked perfectly flawless on her!

My lighting is a little off but more or less you can see the yellow undertone of the foundation, it's perfect. It really melts into the skin but the shade is still slightly dark for me (it may look lighter on camera), but I'm acidic too so after a couple of hours there is a hugs possibility that I may look like a matchstick -a light body with a dark head.

Now that I have swiped them side by side you can see the difference. The Nude Beige shade has a pinkish-peachy undertone which is best for women who have a very warm skin tone, and someone who has pinkish hues to their skin. This should blend really well! Meaning, the shade should "melt" perfectly into your skin.

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush (PhP 429.00 each)
The shades look a bit neon-y or strong in the photos, but I guarantee, they are very subtle and sheer and you don't have to worry about overdoing your blush!

About the "bouncy" thing of the bouncy blush, I wouldn't say it was actually "bouncy" (say that sentence 5 times -LOL) since once you press your finger on the blush, it doesn't really bounce right back. It's really more of soft clay rather than it is "bouncy". It's really soft! And even if you dip your finger a bit harshly, you don't end up with a whole lot of product on your brush or fingers! It's still quite sheer which is why it's really like airbrush!

See how soft and dainty the blushes are? I just love it to bits! I had to swipe my arm several times with product to get this color intensity, so imagine how soft the color is with just one swipe, so you don't have to worry about layering too much on the first application. LUUURVE!!

Pro tip: I recommend applying this blush with your fingers because you will have more control on where to apply product.

I had a blast at the launch! It was so fun to be with my fellow blogger friends and magazine editors. It was a very intimate lunch at Stella at the Fort.

Let me show you some photos from the event that I entered during their #maybellinedream Instagram Photo Contest! It was so fun! And guess what? I won the contest too! And the prize... (Drum Roll Please)

...AN INSTAX CAMERA! Yay! Congratulations to me! Thank you Maybelline!
By the way, that's my friend and fellow beauty blogger, Martha Sta. Barbara of The Beauty Junkee!

  2. Yey! Thanks Ms. Sabs for the review. Ang mura nya for 599.00 considering it's mousse type. I just have a question to ask, can pregnant women use this kind of makeups? I mean hindi naman bawal yung ganito diba? Thank you so much!

    1. Absolutely! Most makeup that have been developed by large reputable cosmetic companies just sit on the surface of your skin. What I would avoid are really cheap cosmetics that you find in Divisoria or 168, a lot of those makeup are replicas and could contain harsh chemicals like lead to substitute other ingredients, that's why they can sell it so cheap! I would also avoid makeup that you have not heard of. Stick to cosmetics that have been tried & tested for a while :)

If you still feel uneasy about using cosmetics during your pregnancy, there are many organic brands of makeup, like Origins, Physicians Formula, or Bare Minerals, but those are hard to come by here in Manila. We do have Virginia Olsen Minerals here in Manila so be sure to check them out :)

Another tip would be, make sure your makeup is relatively new because old makeup (makeup that have been sitting on your dresser for more than 18 months) can carry some nasty bacteria. Remember to throw your mascara out after 6 months! ♥

    2. By the way, what I would avoid are pimple creams during pregnancy because those contain steroids. Avoid treatment creams during your term or when breastfeeding because they are packed with antibiotics and other chemicals too. But makeup is harm free ♥

  7. Maybelline always maintain their product name that can cater different age and status. I have been using Maybelline mineral blush and concealer and I love it! Most of my Maybelline were given as pasalubong from relatives :) They know I love make-up!

The bouncy blush looks so cute it's like a candy in a pop container hehe. I like both colors but i'd go for the coral shade which is perfect for my fair colored skin.

Nice answer you gave them and for that winner talaga ng Instax Camera winner na winner! ;)

    1. Aww... Thank you for taking the time to leave me a message :) Yes, I believe that when building a good makeup kit, one should start with a very good foundation base. Because having a good base means great-looking, natural, radiant skin, and the rest will follow! One may scrimp on other makeup products, but never the base ♥ I'm so happy you learned a lot! I do hope you keep coming back! As long as you keep reading, I will keep writing ;)
