So, hair removal creams. I'm sure you've heard and seen these everywhere. But which one to choose? I used to buy Sally Hansen for my legs but there are a lot of bad things that happened when I used this brand so I ended up throwing it away. But I'll get into that later.

I don't usually make #services posts twice in one week but I am going to make an exception because I want to share my not-so good experience with BareNaked in Glorietta 5. Ok, so I don't know what to call the substance so I will just call it "sugar wax". Please take note that this review is for the Glorietta 5 branch only, and does not apply to ALL Bare Naked branches.


First of all, let me tell you that when I am trying a new service "undercover", I never reveal that I am a writer/beauty blogger because I want to experience everything as a regular client. After the service, I always let them know that I am making a review and give my blog address so they can check out what I think of their service so they can improve more on their service, or maintain an excellent job. Either way, I have no reason to lie about a certain review.

I have had waxes before, but it was only this year before a recent trip to Boracay did I dare bare it all. My regular bikini waxer convinced me in removing everything for a fuzz and hassle free summer.

The moment it was over, it actually felt weird. I was sore for a couple of days, but I must admit that when we got to the beach, it really was hassle free. But as the days went by, I started to feel very uncomfortable. I guess It's because that there is nothing there to protect "you".

A month and a half later, the hair is still about 30% grown and it's getting quite uncomfortable. It even gets more uncomfortabel at night when the itching begins. Itching occurs when the hair start to grow back, this happenes whether you shave or you wax. This itching can sometimes get unbearable and can keep you awake.

I do not have any intention of getting another wax anytime soon so I am growing it fully and when it does, then I will just do the regular shaving. I just read in other health websites that continuous tugging and tearing of the delicate skin around and INSIDE your bikini area may cause some serious damage. Before getting a Brazilian wax, read on and consider it's dangers.


What is a Brazilian Wax?

Brazilian waxing refers to a removal of everything, front to back, while sometimes leaving a thin strip of hair on the pubis used by those who wear thong bikinis. An extreme form of bikini waxing, it involves complete removal of hair from the buttocks and adjacent to the anus, perineum and vulva (labia majora and mons pubis). Waxes that remove all of the pubic hair are known as a full Brazilian wax, full Bikini wax, Hollywood wax or the Sphinx.



What are the Potential Dangers of Brazilian Bikini Waxing?

It is important to learn about any potential dangers before you opt to receive any beauty treatment. While they may be rare, it is important to keep in mind that there are dangers which may be associated with receiving a Brazilian bikini wax. Some of the most common side effects that you are putting yourself at risk for when you decide to get a Brazilian bikini wax include yeast infections and bacterial infections. Although it is even more rare, there are some instances in which sexually transmitted diseases, such as herpes, have been spread through Brazilian bikini waxes. Some of the less serious but common side effects that can be caused through Brazilian bikini waxing include itchiness and skin which is blotchy in appearance. In fact, many claim that they have never experienced anything more painful than a Brazilian bikini wax. Since you do experience pain, you cannot use pain as an indicator that something has gone wrong with your Brazilian bikini wax. One of the things that you should keep in mind, however, is that the person who is performing your Brazilian should never wax the same area more than once. Not only will you be likely to experience pain or irritation after your waxing session is over, but direct contact with the skin is a great way for bacteria to spread. If the person doing your Brazilian wants to reapply wax to the same area, it is important to make sure that you stop them.

So what should you do now?

If you are unsure if Brazilian waxing is right for you, consult your OB-Gyne. They know everything about taking care about your sensitive area. For the meantime, shave your bikini area first if you are going on a short beach trip!


- There are a lot of articles online now about the pros and cons of Brazilian waxing. Make sure that you know everything there is to know about waxing before you get one. I personally have learned my lesson on "baring it all", so next time I think I'll just stick with the regular bikini wax or a do-it-yourself trim and shave.
