Sister Love(y): Day 18

by - Thursday, April 02, 2020

I love my family. Everyone in my family plays a different role in my life. I have my parents who raised and love me, a brother who taught me how to be tough, and I have my husband and my children who complete me. But in my whole life, there's only one who has always been there for me, and who knows me inside and out.

Today's prompt asks: Who are you grateful to have in your life? How can you show them your gratitude? I did not even have to think long and hard about this one because there is only one person in my life that I am most grateful to have in my life. My sister.
According to the most recent article I read, it said that "A new study conducted by De Montfont University and Ulster University, people who grew up with sisters tend to be happier in later life.". I agree. The researchers found that sisters tended to encourage their siblings to be more open about their feelings and to discuss their emotions. Let's get into that.
My sister and I have had so much arguments in the past, and I know a lot more in the future. From shallow ones to really deep ones, we always moved passed them. We taught each other how to open up and really talk about our feelings. When we argue, we lay all our cards on the table and really sort through what hurt us or what the problem was. She is brutally honest, and she only expects the same from me so as to not have any ill feelings towards each other. We laugh, we cry, we apologize, we hug, and we always got through it, and in turn, our bond is stronger.
We have gone through so many adventures, and know we will be sharing so much more. So many memories, so many emotions, experiences (both happy and sad), heartbreaks, marriage, and kids. Our journey is far from over, and everyday, I learn so much from her still.

She is older than me, but it seems like we are twins, born 2.5 years apart. Always putting myself and others before herself, she has so much love, patience, and support to give. This is where a gargantuan amount of gratitude comes from.

To show how grateful I am of her, I want to always be there for her anytime she needs me. I want to be her sounding board, her support system, her rock, her source of laughter, and just spend more time together. There is no amount of money in this world that can ever repay the support and love she has and is giving me.
I love my sister without reservations. We've become surrogate parts of each of our own families and I don't know what I'd do without them too. My sister and I are two different people, but we have an otherworldly bond since we were kids. It seems like we have been sisters in our past lives, in this life, and I'm sure -in the next.
