Using Soffia's foundation brush is as good as when using your fingers!

#toolsofthetrade

The most asked question most women ask me is: "should I use my hands or a brush for my foundation?", and as what I always tell them is that you can use whatever works for you. It doesn't matter if you use a sponge, a flat foundation brush, a stippling brush or your hands, use the tool that works best for you.

Your foundation base should be flawless. Applied as thin as possible but conceals most imperfections.  If imperfections can still be seen, use a concealer instead. Don't pile on the foundation!

I have always loved Soffia's brushes. Not only are they very professional looking, they are extremely soft and easy to clean. They're sturdy, so you don't have to worry about the hairs falling all over the place that you'll have to pick them off your client's face -or your own face for that matter.

I used to prefer applying foundation with my hands on my client's faces. But when I studied makeup in Hong Kong in 2006, they are very particular about other people touching their face when they have their makeup done. So from then on, I became conscious about that.

Let me tell you about this Opulence Perfect Skin Foundation brush from Soffia. In all my years in the makeup industry, this brush is the closest in creating that flawless, just-like-skin effect when you use your fingers.

The angled, flat top of the brush allows it to pick up the right amount of foundation each time you dip your brush on your palette.

The soft hairs glide on the surface of your skin, following the contours of your face making the application of your foundation even and flawless. This brush actually gives the same effect as airbrush. The skin looks so buffed!

I love using a stainless palette when I am applying cream products because it's more sanitary this way. Metal palettes are easy to clean too! The highest point of the brush gets to those hard to reach places like under the lower lash lines, the sides of your nose, and your hairline!

I love the feel of the hairs on my face because it's super soft! It can spread the little product you pick up, covering a lot of "floor areas" on your face. This makes it economical with your foundation! Sponges waste a lot of product because most of it gets absorbed by the sponge. Flat foundation brushes leave streak marks, and apply a thick base. So the chances of your foundation creasing is very high. Plus, thick foundation just looks too cakey.

If you look closely at the effect this brush gives, you won't see streak marks on your base. Creasing is minimal when you do the flex test because the foundation is applied very thin on your face. It actually looks like skin!

It's so hard to find the right tools. Not all brushes are the same. When I was starting out as a makeup artist in 2004, I used brushes that I already had in my possession (cheap ones), and you can really see the difference when you use high quality brushes like SOFFIA. I plan to collect the whole SOFFIA set to replace the other brushes I have in my pro kit.

MY THOUGHTS:

  3. I'm currently using e.l.f. studio small stipple brush. It's affordable and gives a thin, streak-free application. However, since it's so cheap, the quality isn't as good: the handle already detached from the brush head.
This brush is actually way cheaper than I expected! Where can I get one of these? I'd like to invest in a good foundation brush because I'll be using it every day.
