Some Champagne? Caviar... Nails?

I know that this Ciate Caviar Manicure was such a big thing last year, but it didn't interest me that much until recently. I have always been curious about how they did it, and when I saw a YouTube video on how to use Ciate's "supposed" patented Caviar nails, I wanted to get my hands on one.


Since it's not so easy to get one here in Manila, I decided to look on Ebay USA because, 1. They have more choices, and 2. I have packages coming in from New York every 2 weeks anyway. As soon as I typed in "Ciate Caviar Manicure" on the search bar, literally hundreds of them popped up in results. I couldn't believe that they cost that much! Come on, $25.00 -and some much more (PhP 1,025), per color and those bead things? I mean, I would gladly pay that amount (and more) for Chanel Nail Lacquer, but not for such a novelty/fad product. Although I must admit, their colors are fantastic!



So, I scratched Ciate off my list and tried to forget about it. Until recently. I was in Landmark the other day buying polish remover, and that's when I came across these microbeads from Amie Magic Beauty. For a pack of 6 tiny (yes, unfortunately tiny) bottles, it costs PhP 139.95 ($3.40). I was ecstatic! I asked the sales lady if they sold bottles per color, but unfortunately, they come in 6 different colors per pack.

To do this nail art, you will need the microbeads (color of your choice of course):


Sorry, the pack had a double in color so I only photographed 5 of these. I bought 2 packs so I could get the other colors so I can show you how easy the caviar nails are to do!

You will need a plastic container to catch the falling microbeads and so you won't waste the beads and make a mess. And, a small funnel (PhP 29.95 at Amie) so you can put them back in the container.

Of course, you're going to need the nail polish of your choice that best match your microbeads. You will also need a top coat to seal the beads onto the nails when they dry.



STEP ONE:

Prime your nails with a nail primer that prevents your nails from chipping and turning yellow.

STEP TWO:

Apply a coat of your desired nail polish on your nail, and immediately apply a second coat to achieve an intense color.


STEP THREE:
It is best to pour the microbeads while the polish is still wet otherwise, it won't stick if they dry. So do this one nail at a time. Pour a generous amount until the entire nail is covered with beads. Lightly shake your hand to remove excess beads.

STEP FOUR:

With a very light hand, press the beads to the nail.

STEP FIVE:

Put the funnel on the container and pour the excess beads. if you have a lot of beads to spare, you can always do this later. But if you want to have different colors, then clean up as you go.

REPEAT STEPS 1 TO 5.

STEP SIX:

As soon as the caviar nails that you have created have dried completely (no beads are coming off), then apply a top coat on each nail.


Told you that was easy! Now, i did a multi-colored hand so you can see the effect of each color. I love that you can actually do this cheap! Ha!
