Color Me Neon

Last Saturday, I had a birthday lunch to attend with the ladies in Tagaytay City at Marcia Adams Restaurant. All the light sweaters that I own are drab colors of brown, gray and black. I just realized that I didn't have colored sweaters.

For those of you who know me, I just love colorful stuff. When I dress in black, I color my nails in bright colors, or maybe a bright colored lipstick.

I decided to wear a black and gray knitted sweater that day, black latex leggings, gold shoes and a really dark purple purse, actually I don't know the exact color but for your reference, it's the LV Amarante color. That being said, I felt like Miss Autumn. I had dull colors on and I wanted pops of color to brighten my drab outfit.

That's when I remembered the unused BYS neon eyeshadow palette in my stash together with the blue liquid liner. A gift from a friend who thought of me when she came across the palette in SM. (Aww... Thanks Dessie!)


When you decide to wear something as daring as neon eye shadow, I suggest keeping the rest of your face bare (meaning, makeup free). 

After washing my face, I applied my moisturizer, tons of sun screen and my BB Cream just to tone down the redness of my cheeks a little bit). I put on my brows and lip balm, but no face powder or blush. Not even a tint on my lips.

The consistency of the eye shadow is... so-so, but it had good pigment. It wasn't chalky nor was it silky smooth. Packaging was chic so I had fun with that one.


The liquid liner was tricky to apply. It took a long time to dry so I had to sit in front of the electric fan to dry the liner faster. I had to apply several layers, layering the color on each time it dries because if you keep layering without completely drying them first, the first liner just gets erased. It was just too watery.


I only chose 2 colors from the palette. I didn't choose colors that were in the red undertone family (pink or purple) because I have pink undertones, without foundation to cover the redness on my cheeks, I will look waaaay too I-just-came-from-the-North-Pole-and-it-was-too-damn-cold. (I know pink is my favorite color but I didn't want to look like Mrs. Santa)

The blue liner brought out the yellow and the orange real well I must say. Everyone complemented on my eye makeup. Of course it's actually more blended out than this. I had to show you guys how intense the color can get when you layer it on.

The Color Club is one of my favorite brands of nail polish. It is part of the China Glaze tree, but slightly cheaper. They have a a lot of nice funky colors and the color intensity is amazing. Easy to apply too. I used the shade "Warhol" and it's this gorgeous neon pink polish.

I love how my nail polish really stood out while holding my purse. My accessories were in the same color palette of my outfit too so the color on my eyes and my nails were the only color I had that day. I loved it!

I'm so sorry I can't tell you the prices of the products since they were a gift from my friend. For the ladies who reside in Manila, BYS is set to open 13 outlets by the end of September of 2012 and it is available at SM Department Stores and select Watsons branches. I know for a fact that they have a counter at SM Makati.

    I love your makeup! I've been eying that palette every time I pass by the BYS counter, lol. Although I'm quite disappointed about the blue eyeliner because that's what I'm planning to buy next. I just don't have patience for watery liquid eyeliners. Lol
