Renew your skin in two easy steps with Origins
#aboutface #productreviews
So, Origins finally opened in Manila and I had the pleasure of attending the store event at the SM Makati last September 3. For those of you who have not heard of the brand, Origins is a brand that aims to create high-performance natural skincare that is powered by nature and proven by science. They use potent plants, organic ingredients and 100% natural essential oils. And their long-standing commitment to protect the planet, its resources and all those who populate it is reaffirmed by our earth and animal friendly practices (from Origins website). So, they're cruelty free and all-natural!
I have been hearing about Origins for a long time (since I was in grade school) but I have not had the pleasure of having to try any of their products before. Even though it was what you should be buying when you go to the US. I think it was partly because I did now know where to start. They have a wide variety of products and I can never tell where to start if I were to buy their products.
So at the event, they gifted me with this set to try and I think it's a pretty fantastic line to start with (even when you are in your early twenties): it's a set that promises to renew the skin, which is perfect because I have been neglecting my skin care lately so starting with a mask and a serum is always a good idea.

Origins Original Skin Renewal Mask, PhP 2,200 | Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask, PhP 1,500 |
Origins describes this product as:
Original Skin™
Renewal serum with Willowherb
- Best for all skin types
Original Skin™
Retexturizing mask with Rose Clay
Another added plus for this product is that it contains exfoliating beads to help soften skin. It actually reminds me of GlamGlow's YouthMud because of its exfoliating powder and the tingling feeling you get when you apply it. Although the tingling is not as strong as GlamGlow, it does have a bit of that slight sting feeling on your skin.
It's pink! Yes, emphasis on the pink because I think that's just too cute and girly, and looks a bit like calamine lotion when you apply it but without the sticky and nasty smell of it. This mask smells good, but I am not sure if this product has fragrance or it comes from the natural extracts and essential oils, so it's best for people with sensitive skin to proceed with caution. Best to ask the people from Origins.
I have been using this mask twice a week for three weeks and I can say with confidence that my skin felt softer and smoother after each time I use it. It's very instant and the effects are long lasting too. The added jojoba that it contains kept the product from being too drying on the skin. Price wise I would say that it's not at all bad. I would definitely be willing to spend PhP 1500 for this product because it's worth every penny. Not only did it work superbly on my skin, but it's also economical. Just a little bit of product goes a really long way so this 100ml tube will last a long time.
So today, while I had some "me" time, I was able to take pics while I did my mask. I do my mud masks twice a week and that's every Tuesday and Friday.
Without washing my face, I applied a single layer of mask on my skin. Not too thick, and not too thin either. I just make sure that my skin is completely covered with mask. Immediately after applying, you will feel that it tingles, sort of like "mahapdi" on your face but it's not actually stinging your skin, it's "detoxifying" your skin, drawing toxins out of your pores.
Just shy of 5 minutes later, the mask dries up. I did however leave the mask on for a good 20 minutes so that my skin can absorb the minerals and vitamins that this mask has. After it dries up, it actually cracks when you do a scrunch thing with your face. I love doing this with my mud masks I don't know why! I love seeing it crack. LOL
I then wet my skin with luke warm water from the sink, and start to rub the mask on my skin in circular motions so that it exfoliates my skin, then I rinse it off. The mask doesn't dry your skin and your skin won't feel like it would tear from over-stretching after using it. My skin felt cool to the touch and my skin looks instantly brighter. My skin looks well rested, if that's even a thing.
My pores look clearer and smaller -tighter. Looks like dirt was really drawn out of my pores up to the surface and that's really a good thing since the pores on my nose look enlarged. Redness was reduced and no breakouts!
In conclusion, if you have extremely oily skin and is prone to acne and breakouts -and is looking for an acne-busting, miracle worker of a face mask, then this is not for you. It does not do much for breakouts (but may aid in drying them up though), but this mask makes your skin even-toned and smooth and hydrated. It even shrinks enlarged pores gently and removes all the dead skin cells off your face... The best thing? It evens out your complexion.
Origins Boutique is now open and is located at the G/F of SM Makati.
