New Happy Skin Products to make you smile and make your day!

by - Wednesday, August 27, 2014

Happy Skin is rapidly becoming one of my favorite makeup brands. Not just for their cute, top-notch packaging, but their products are very competitive with the high end cosmetics brands available abroad. Not just drugstore brands, but higher up on the food chain. Their prices are not bad either, totally affordable.

I have recently attended the intimate launch of Happy Skin two new staple products that came out: The ZitZapper Second Skin Cream, and three new wearable shades (jumps for joy), with romantic names such as Playing Footsie, Just Say Yes, and Honeymoon Glow.

The DGMGE Powder Foundation though has been in the market ever since Happy Skin launched, but it's the first time I'm ever going to try it so I am including it in this blog post. Here's a group hug shot of my new Happy Skin products. *click!*

Let's start with the Zit Zapper Second Skin Cream. I'm sure by now you already know that I am a big fan of Happy Skin's SS Cream, well, if you are too, imagine the ZZ Cream being like the SS Cream but MORE. Loaded with grapefruit extract that contains zit zapping qualities that fight unwanted acne!
Happy Skin Zit Zapper Second Skin Cream, PhP 1,299
 Happy Skin says:
This non-silicone foundation does not clog pores and is infused with Grapefruit Extract. Rich in antioxidants, grapefruit is touted as the new skin care secret. It effectively prevents skin acne and sebum oxidation, the trigger that starts pimples. It keeps troubled skin soft & supple, too. Wonder food Yoghurt Extract treats and minimizes the growth of acne bumps & plugs, and also serves as a skin brightener helping lighten scars & blemishes. Licorice Stem & Root Extracts act as anti-irritants that help reduce redness & irritation, thanks to their anti-inflammatory and skin soothing properties. Salicylic Acid helps exfoliate pores and eliminate the clogging residue that causes breakouts. This contains SPF 20 PA++ and is suitable for all skin types especially blemished skin.
Since my skin is not prone to acne, I will be using this cream when I do breakout because I get those from time to time. Although I am pregnant now too so I can't use too much of this since it contains Salicylic Acid.

As you might already know, pregnant women should avoid products that contain Salicylic Acid. Small doses are not so bad but according to my research, it is still best to avoid during pregnancy. According to my research, this is what I found:
But salicylic acid is another no-no for pregnant women. High doses of the acid in its oral form have been shown in studies to cause birth defects and various pregnancy complications
Again, doctors are being cautious by recommending that pregnant women avoid the topical use of salicylic acid. Small amounts applied to the skin — such as a salicylic acid-containing toner used once or twice a day — are considered safe, says Johnson.
But the concern is stronger about face and body peels containing salicylic acid. "This kind of 'soaking' in the ingredient is similar to taking one or more aspirin when pregnant," she explains.
"More product used equals more absorption into the bloodstream," adds Baumann. Always check with your doctor before having a peel treatment. Better yet, she advises, if you must have a peel, have it done professionally at your dermatologist's office. A dermatologist will know how to do it safely during pregnancy. (www.babycenter.com)
It has the same consistency as the SS Cream, but this cream only has one universal shade that magically melt into each and different skin tone and color. Another reason to love Happy Skin, they think of everything. Imagine one cream to suit whether you are fair skinned or have beautiful morena skin.
It has a spreadable consistency which glides on the skin very well. Non-chalky like appearance which is always a plus for me. You have no idea how common that is, you know, foundations that have a chalky appearance. That's why I am not a big fan of Cream to Powder finishes. I still prefer setting the foundation myself with loose or pressed powder.

I love that this ZZ cream is very hydrating regardless of its acne fighting ingredients. Usually I find them a bit drying, but this cream really hydrated my skin well. PLUS! It contains a mild cooling effect on the skin to keep your skin feeling fresh!
Forgive all the baby hairs that are sticking out. My OB says that's the pregnancy hormones. I ain't complaining though since because of my rapid hair growth, my 2 thinning spots at the sides of my forehead has vanished and replaced with patches of new hair. (Jumps for joy once again).

You can see on the right side of my face, I applied the ZZ Cream, it still looks like my skin, but a better version.
After applying the ZZ Cream on my face, I then set it wit DGMGE Hydrating Powder Foundation. I am not just saying this because I am biased, but I have found a powder that matches my skin tone perfectly. I am so happy!

I am always skeptic about powders because I can never find a match for my skin tone. It's weird I know. But there are only a handful of brands out there that carry my tone.
Happy Skin Don't Get Mad Get Even Hydrating Powder Foundation in Soft Beige, PhP 1,299
Their powder foundations come in three shades: 01 Soft Beige (which is perfect for gals with my skin color and tone), 02 Natural Beige, and 03 Deep Beige.
Packaging is made from imported high quality materials that were manufactured in Japan. I love the fact that their packaging is never scrimped on.
Sponge is separated from the powder...
And the powder is protected with an acrylic/plastic cover to keep it from seeping oil from the sponge. It also keeps the germs and bacterial contamination away from the compact.
The powder shade may look dark for my skin shade and tone, but when I apply it on my face, it blended perfectly well on my skin. Well, at least for my hand that time.
When I used the powder to set my ZZ Cream base, I then discovered that it doesn't give a very cake like and thick finish. It actually made my skin look naturally smooth, and like I set my skin with a light dusting of loose powder. The coverage is medium to full too which I like because it doesn't feel heavy on the skin!

Amazing. Photographed below is my face with the ZZ Cream set with Happy Skin's Hydrating Powder Foundation, and the result is just beautiful and flawless. For a powder foundation, my skin didn't feel too thick or too heavy. Which is perfect for our humid climate!
Before I put on my lipstick, I used my Happy Skin Get Cheeky with Me blush in First Kiss, and tight lined my eyes using Eye Am Here To Stay Gel Liner Pencil in Chic Brown, and used Eye Love View Pencil on my brows.

And last for this blog post, (but definitely not the least!) is my favorite product line from Happy Skin: the Shut Up and Kiss Me Lippies!!
Happy Skin Shut Up and Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie, PhP 499 each
This month, Happy Skin celebrated the launch of their new lippies that will be a permanent collection for the brand: Honeymoon Glow, Just Say Yes, and Playing Footsie.
These 3 new fun, wearable shades are here to stay forever, so I can relax when I run out, specially the Playing Footsie shade. It's TDF! Well, I am a bold lippie kinda gal so that's what I had my eye set on immediately.
Here are the swatches on my hand. You can see how creamy they are and they glide on smoothly on the lips. I love that after it sets, it lasts for hours and hours!
Here are the lippies in action!

Head out to Happy Skin today and check out these new amazing products. I find myself using a lot of Happy Skin lately, if not all, at least one or maybe two products.

Happy Skin and I are a perfect match.
