One of the best things about having a reputable and one of the top salons take care of your hair is that you will never ever have to worry about looking boring ever again without having to suffer the coveted hair-envy from celebs or it girls.

It has been 3 months since my first visit to Hairshaft Salon, and now it's time for a retouch for my best friend's wedding.

When I walked through Fred's salon at the Fort, I do not stifle his creativity because he knows my hair and my style. All I said that I needed a touch up because my re-growth was showing already. When we were discussing treatments, he asked me what I did to maintain my hair because it was soft and looked healthy (I know, I couldn't believe it myself).

(Click READ MORE to know more...)

I told him my hair regimen that I never ever skip. You see ladies (and gents!), there is a limit to what your hair stylist can do. Maintaining it and keeping your healthy after you leave the salon is entirely up to you. Allow me to share with you what I do to keep my treated hair healthy after telling you my experience at Hairshaft Fort.
The staff is exceptionally accommodating and friendly. Even though I have only been in Hairshaft Podium, the Fort's branch is just as cozy and has a friendly atmosphere. Fred and I set our appointment at 10am since I had meetings all day that day. Fred didn't tell me what he planned to do with my hair so I just let him be.
Only 45 (yes! FORTY FIVE) minutes later, my hair was refreshed, color revived, retouched, and blow dried. I was out of the salon in under an hour. That's how confident and good they are. I didn't even have to look at myself in the mirror.
Sorry the photo is blurred, I was only using my camera phone since forgetful me forgot my camera again at home! After our fun mini pictorial, I promised Fred to spread the word about proper hair care. And that's why I composed this post for you guys to see how you should properly care for your hair! Oh, first enjoy the rest of our photos with Fred and his team!
Take a look at how gorgeous my hair is. It's soft and cascading, and no one else blow dries my hair like this! No heating tools required too! They just used a roller brush, a high powered blow drier, and they mad skeelz.
So, moving on to how to properly care for your hair. I was actually featured at BeautyBook.ph for how to properly care for your hair a few months back and I am delighted to share them with you here today.

To begin your new weekly regimen. I do this every Sunday if I can! If I know I can't, I schedule it some time during the week instead. But do not skip! Well, you can -it's not like your hair will fall off if you do, but skipping can lead to laziness in doing this maintenance so try to stick to it.

You will need:

  • 1 cup Mayonnaise with Olive Oil (you can use any mayo, I just want the extra olive oil!)
  • 2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Cling Wrap
  • Crocodile Sectioning Clips (I prefer these than the other clips because they can hold thick buns/twists)
  • A trusty timer

This is going to be icky so wear a tube top that you hardly use. Wrap a towel around your shoulders and start applying the Mayo mixture on your hair. Remember, if you need more, just mix more! I can a cup and a half of this mixture because my hair is long and thick. Concentrate on the tips of your hair! That one needs the most nutrition!
You will need to make sure that it's inside your hair too so use a comb! It's going to be a little tough so just comb through your hair carefully. I prefer a wide tooth comb because not only is it better for your hair, but it doesn't break your hair either!
After you have applied and massaged the Mayo mixture to your hair, twist up your hair to the top of your head and secure with clips. Wash your hands and pull out some cling wrap and wrap it around your head like so. These photos are from my previous hair posts. I will give you links as I go along.
Keep the moisture in for a minimum of 1 hour. I leave it for an hour and 30 minutes sometimes when my hair is drying up.
When your hour is up, wash your hair with sulfate-free products. If you do not have chemical-treated hair and your hair is as virgin as it can be, good for you! You can use any other shampoo and conditioner. But if you are anything like me, you will have to use sulfate-free products to preserve the treatment that is in your hair.

Use COLD WATER to wash your hair. if you use warm or hot water, you will just rinse out everything. But by using cold water, the pores/follicles of your hair get tighter, trapping the moisture in.
Towel dry your hair, and just air dry. Avoid rubbing your hair with the towel as much as you can. Just squeeze your hair with a towel to remove excess water. Comb your hair with a wide tooth comb and just let air dry.

Once a week, I use a hair mask like DOVE INTENSE REPAIR TREATMENT MASK or VIDAL SASSOON INTENSIVE HAIR MASK. When I apply my conditioner, I scoop out a mask and apply it on my hair. I twist my hair up in a bun and wrap it with cling wrap again and leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour.
I can't believe that Fred actually advised me to keep doing what I do. Some hair stylists would advise you and push for their treatment services at their salons but Fred told me that he was happy that I was taking care of my hair.

According to him, although they can grant you your DREAM HAIR WISH, there is also so much they can do. Maintaining it is also a crucial part of having beautiful hair. Of course, he can just easily say that I won't be able to maintain his beautiful creations on my own and just recommend their treatments. But Fred isn't like that. He will actually give you advise on how to maintain the color and softness that your hair is capable of.

Get in touch with Hairshaft today and book a consultation on what you can do with your hair. Their opinions matter and really make sense. They will not try to push sell their services and actually give you advise that make sense!

The most important thing to them, is that you walk out of there looking fine, fabulous, and blissfully happy!

  1. This looks cool but I really don't want to put mayo on my hair! Is there another alternative?

    1. It washes right off when you shampoo it, but if the idea of mayo in your hair creeps you out, you can just try intense conditioning mask :)

    1. I agree... He does great hair and he's really passionate about what he does and that's why it shoes in his work ♥ He's the only one who can touch my hair actually! But I haven't seen him in months because I got pregnant! My hair needs retouching so bad!
