My first ever Makeup Collaboration with SNOE is now out in stores!

by - Tuesday, May 20, 2014

Finally I get to share with you my greatest achievement and accomplishment as a makeup artist and beauty blogger! My first collaboration with a well renowned beauty company, called SNOE. I have always believed in this brand that's why it was so easy for me to say to the project.

The first time Jen asked me to come up with my favorite shades, I got to work right away. I have more than 50 blushes in my professional makeup kit, and I chose my top 12 blushes from my luxury branded blushes for my clients.

Choosing the shades was easy, it took us months to perfect the texture and the finish.

SNOE SABStance High Intensity Powder Blush, PhP 899.00/each

Price wise, yes, it is quite expensive. This is because our blushes are packaged with top of the line ingredients that are imported from abroad to be added to make this product beneficial to your skin.

When CEO and founder of SNOE, Jen Gerodias-Diaz sent me the first batch of samples for me to test, I had to test it for a couple of months on real people and on myself and take notes on what I wanted and what I didn't like about the prototype.

Jen and her hubby were the ones who came up with the name SABStance, and it was just so fitting. It was my job to make sure that the texture and the shades were perfect.

It took us months to perfect the formula, and Jen was the one who came up with the right skin-benefiting ingredients for the skin such as Amazonian Clay, Pomegranate, Acerola Cherry, and Acai Berry. I fell in love with these ingredients because it is something that I would be proud of promoting.

I had no idea what I wanted the packaging to look like. I just told Jen to surprise me, and that she did. When she sent me the soft copy of the box design, I was so happy. I didn't even have to revise anything! Pink and lime green are two of my favorite colors so it wasn't too hard for me.

SNOE's design team is just amazing.

The blush comes with a little velour sponge that you can also use but just lightly patting it on the blush pan and swirling it around the apples of your cheeks to avoid streaks. The soft material of the sponge will make your blush look natural.

The small compact is light pink which makes it even girlier, it matches the other SNOE products such as their Poudre Extraordinaire, and Poudre Duo Supreme.

We kept the instructions as simple as possible to make blush application such a breeze for other people.

The name of the shades are quite simple. I wanted descriptive words that women would like to aspire to become as a woman of SABStance: Joyful, Patient, Courageous, Hopeful, Faithful, and so on... Cute-sy names were not my thing (when naming my own makeup anyway), so I wanted to name my blushes on traits I aspire to be to become a woman of substance, which is an overall confident woman.

For now, only 10 shades are readily available for you to choose from, X4 and X12 are still in production because we want it to be perfect! So they will be available soon too! I will keep you updated.

Each compact comes with a small mirror for easy and quick touch-ups, and a small powder puff. You need not use the puff, you can use your professional makeup brushes to apply this blush.

It has a faint sweet, berry smell which is from the berry ingredients this blush is packed with.

As you can see from the swatches below, all shades are semi-mattes. I adore blushes that are iridescent, but not a lot of brands have matte blushes so we decided to keep all the blushes to have a semi-matte finish. It will still reflect a little light when light hits your cheeks which will give your skin a healthy looking glow.

I created this semi-matte finish mostly as a makeup artist, and not as a consumer. When I put makeup on brides, I love using semi-matte shades on them because shimmer and iridescent finishes can make the bride look greasy and sweaty after a while specially in our hot humid climate! So I wanted to provide makeup artists semi-matte blushes to give their brides a natural, fresh looking flush the whole day!

Most Filipinas have cool undertones even though they have dark skin or morena skin. That's why I provided different levels of pinks. I mean, when we blush naturally when we're embarrassed or "kilig", we blush in shades of pinks. We don't blush in bronze, purple, orange, or a green color. I did however provide a few coral and orange toned shades so you can mix these orange tones with the pink shades to complement and personalize a shade that is right for you.

It took me a while, but I finally did it! I swatched each blush individually on myself so you can see the different effects. The pinks however seem like they're all the same but I guarantee that they are all different. You just have to swatch them personally to know which one matches your skin tone best!

I made a video before on how to apply blush properly (Back when I was still a brunette! LOL), you can find that video HERE.

Using this blush is easy! Since it's highly pigmented (but never chalk-y!), you just need to lightly dip your brush on the pan and tap of the excess. This blush is buildable as well as it is blend-able, so take your time! You can mix shades for a more customized blush.

I will leave the reviews on pros and cons for the beauty bloggers to write about! I just thought you wanted to know how this collaboration was born!

Have you tried SABStance yet? What do you think?

  6. Oh em gee! This is such a big accomplishment and I am so happy for you, as a person who reads your blog a lot. I almost fainted though when I saw the tag, but I will definitely save up and buy me one of these, I love all the colors but I think Love and Honor will suit my skin tone. Congrats Sabs, and oh yeah, the name, Sabstance! So clever!

    1. Yes, it's a little bit pricey because of the top of the line ingredients like Amazonian Clay, the very same ingredient found in Tarte Cosmetics blushes which is a nutrient-rich, multitasking and total-skin-balancing clay that reduces dryness and flakiness, improves skin clarity, elasticity, firmness, and texture while removing oil from the skin's surface for smooth application and wear :) Hope you can try it out soon! ♥
