Yesterday was spent blogging, purifying and rehydrating my skin (which I will post next), and painting my nails. I wanted to get creative with and do a little bit of nail art but at the same time I wanted to keep it simple.

I remember seeing this online somewhere, an easy DIY paint spatter nail art that anyone can do! So I decided to give it a go. The best part? It's very easy to do too!

Want to try this out? More after the break!

You will need to choose three shades that go together well. You can use white nail polish as a base too! But I was kind of tired of using white polish as a base for nail art, so I chose a sea-foam shade, together with hot pink and a bright yellow polish. Oh! Don't forget your clear top coat!

I chose GirlStuff's Fast Dry Top Coat because it really does dry so fast, plus it's really shiny! Next, you will need a piece of foil, a plastic straw cut up into pieces, petroleum jelly, and some cotton buds. Don't forget a piece of paper to put on top of your work station so you won't get polish all over the place!
First, coat your nails with your base coat. I put two coats because a single coat wasn't enough. I could put on another coat but it might take forever to dry!
Next, apply petroleum jelly on the sides of your nails (on your cuticles) with a cotton bud.
On the piece of foil, add drops of your spatter color and dip your straw on there.
Blow on the straw fast and suddenly so that the polish will spatter on your nails. I tried blowing it slowly and gently and the polish didn't budge from the straw. So you have to blow it suddenly like you are blowing dusk out of someone's eye. LOL
Repeat the process with the other color.
You can actually use a third spatter color if you want. It's really up to you! Next, use a cotton bud to simply "wipe" off the spatter on your skin, if you put enough petroleum jelly, it should be easy to wipe it off.

Apply your top coat and you're done!

So, what do you think? Yay or nay? Don't you just love experimenting with
nail polish? Got tips on easy nail art? Share them with me!

HAPPY WEEKEND!

  2. As a person with absolutely no talent in drawing, definitely a big fan of "abstract" nail art. Anything goes, not much room for mistakes, and easy on my shaky hands.
