Covergirl Cheekers Blush in Pretty Peach

#aboutface

I swear, this particular product from Covergirl brings back so much memories of grade school. I remember I would ask my relatives arriving from the states to buy me Covergirl makeup because they don't sell them here yet! It's such a classic look from Covergirl! Yes, I started wearing makeup when I was 14. Just a simple face powder, blush and lip gloss though, but makeup nonetheless.

CoverGirl Cheekers Blush in Pretty Peach contains 3 grams / 0.12 oz of product which will actually last you quite a while. The blush also comes with a brush which is soft but the hairs are quite coarse -but can be of good use when you are in hurry and don't have anything else to apply your blush with. I would describe this color as a muted pink with a bit of coral to it. It also has a bit of gold sheen (not shimmer) to it if you look a little closer. This color brightened up my complexion and looks great for summer to highlight a tan, or all year round if you have a warmer skin tone.

More after this blush after the break!

If you are looking for blushes to collect, then this could be a good brand to start. Some people get obsessed with lippies, some with blushes. This is a good brand to start when looking for a blush that you are in the mood for. It's really quite affordable!
I like the packaging because it's quite simple. It's easy to bring with you and it comes with a brush that you can use for touchups. It may not be a top of the line makeup brush, but it does the job well.
I find it a bit odd that the shimmer/iridescent effect doesn't transfer to the cheeks when you apply the blush, but actually provides a slight glow to the face that looks very healthy and natural. Don't worry, this  blush won't make you look as if you're oily like other shimmer blushes would, but instead, it made my skin glow.
The pigmentation of this blush is very low, which is how I like my blushes actually. Highly pigmented ones like the one from Bobbi Brown can be quite hard to apply specially when you end up applying too much.

The way this product was described in their website is correct, this blush is very sheer. It took me quite a bit of layering of this blush to make the color to pop out like this. This blush was easy to apply, though, because I could start off light and just build from there, which is the trick in applying the most natural looking blush. You can't mess up with applying this blush because of the pigmentation.
On my face: I used Don't Get Mad Get Even Hydrating Liquid Foundation in Soft Beige, I set it with Covergirl TruBlend Minerals Mineral Pressed Powder in Translucent Light with a powder brush. On my brows, I used Shu Uemura Brow: Ink in Ash BrownMaybelline Lip Polish by Color Sensational in Glam 6, and as usual, I contoured my nose with Canmake Nose Shadow Powder.

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS:

PROS
  • I like that it is not that pigmented and you can layer it on.
  • Natural looking.
  • Plenty of great shades available.
  • Affordable.
  • Non-chalky!
  • Soft silky smooth on the skin.
  • Does not emphasize dry skin.
  • Gives a glowing effect on the cheeks.
  • Brush is ok to use.
  • Peach pink shade will suit most Filipina skin and any lippie.
  • Easy to apply for beginners.
  • Easily available in all leading drugstores.

NEUTRAL
  • N/A

CONS
  • Does not last a long time on the cheeks. Specially if you have oily skin. Lasts only about 3 hours then you have to retouch.

  1. I love Covergirl brand. Haven't tried their blushes since I only have their lippies, mascara and eyeshadow. The shade that you got was good for fair skinned :) However, I'm not comfortable talaga using brush blush with this size, like ko ung malalaking blushes (because I have big cheeks haha!)

  2. I tried one of the Cover Girl blushes a few years back and loved the shade but never ended up wearing it a lot. I should have! This blush looks so pretty on you.

  3. Having a covergirl anything really is quite nostalgic. This was my first "big girl" makeup brand that I tried along with Neutrogena.

  5. I was not even aware that they had blushers. I've only ever used their mascara, but this looks like it could be a good addition to the oh-my-god-I-forgot-we-had-a-client-meeting-today office emergency kit
