Sunblocks with a Twist

by - Thursday, March 28, 2013

I remember when it just used to be a choice between regular sunblock and waterproof sunblock. Then you choose your preferred SPF: 25, 30, and 45 (this was even rare back then). I remember, it was just Coppertone.

Now, with today's drastic climate change where the sun is hotter compared to 10 or 15 years ago, cosmetic companies have come out with a wide variety of sunblocks that caters to different outdoor activities, and according to your preferred skin treatment!

1. NATURE REPUBLIC: UVLockUltra BBSun

What is it?: BB Cream for face and neck
Niche: A weightless BBcream for the beach. Look great without looking made-up!

2. AVEENO: Natural Protection Mineral Block

SPF Protection: 30
What is it?: Sunblock for sensitive skin
Niche: Soothing sunblock that has natural oat. So it's a soothing sunblock while you are under the sun.

3. HAWAIIAN TROPIC: Shimmer Effect Sunblock

4. BABY BLANKET: Tender Scalps

5. KIEHL'S: Super Fluid UV Defense

SPF Protection: 50+ uva/uvb
What is it: sunblock
Niche: Ultra light sunscreen. It is absorbed by the skin fast, and it's ultra light formula makes it very easy to apply.

6. SUPERGOOP: Self-Tanning

SPF Protection: Broad spectrum SPF 20
What is it?: sunblock
Niche: It's a sunblock that acts as a self-tanning lotion! It is also towel safe as well.

7. SNOE: Here Comes the Sunblock

8. OCEAN POTION: Face Potion

What is it: Sunblock
Niche: Not just a sunblock for the face, it's for your eyelids, ears, nose and lips too!

9. LOTUS: Safe Sun

SPF Protection: PA++ SPF 40 uva/uvb
What is it?: Sunblock

10. NIVEA: Cooling Mist

SPF Protection: 50 high
What is it: Sunblock
Niche: It keeps your skin cool while you are under the sun. Its spray type bottle helps cover a lot of hard to reach areas.

Have a great weekend everyone! What is your favorite sunblock formula?

  2. The ocean potion face sunblock looks interesting. Sunblock always gets stingy on my eyes when I use it (even the ones for the face) I hope this one does not do the same for me :)

  4. Great review! I rarely use sunblock cause I don't like the stickiness on my skin but I know it's important. Might need to try with something with more water base. 1. The Snoe sunblock has fragrance so it's best to do a patch test first behind the ear and allow 5-10 minutes to see if you have any reactions :) Some people use it for the face though. Yes, Nivea is available in supermarkets in Manila, Watsons and Landmark ♥
