How to Remove Waterproof Mascara

by - Tuesday, April 01, 2008

When I put makeup on my models, celebs, or even me, I always use waterproof mascara. I love how it holds your lashes in place all night and how intense the effect it gives on your eyes. Of course, the problem isn't putting it on, it's removing it.

It is quite difficult to remove many water-proof mascaras. There is always a solution, so don't worry. I have written down 7 steps on how to remove mascara and eyeliners that have worked for me for quite some time now.

1. Make sure your hair is pinned up, you want your face clear while you do this, and so that you won't have any oil or any soap on your hair.

2. Take two cotton balls. Dab them with 2 drops of any makeup remover (such as Lancôme's Bi Facil) mixed with a water.

3. Slowly and throughly paste the cotton balls across your closed eyes, left to right - right to left. Do not rub, just let the oil loosen the mascara from your lashes.

4. Once you feel the mascara between your fingers starting to feel loose (again, do not pull on your lashes), massage a few more drops of oil around your eye area with your eyes closed and gently press your lashes in between your fingers.

5. Splash your face with water, then use your every day cleanser, and gently wash your face for 30-60 seconds, then rinse with warm water.

6. Your skin should be looking brilliant, and that hard-to-remove mascara will be completely removed!

7. Remove any mascara or eyeliner residues with a cotton swab with a little oil or moisturizer.
