Get Iya Villania's Summer Look!

by - Wednesday, April 09, 2008

I did the makeup for Us Girls for their press photos early in 2007. This came out already in newspapers and other press kits. Anyway, I was browsing my photo archives in my computer when I came across Iya's picture. I noticed how the colors I used back then is perfect for this summer! I used these colors to match her dress, when in fact we shot this in December the previous year.

This look is perfect for summer gimmick nights! Cool down the summer heat with fresh lovely lavender and lilac hues.

>>Get Iya's look by following these simple steps!

1. If you know you're going to be taking pictures, slightly contour your face so that you don't look washed out and flat. Remember, digicam flashes are unflattering. Read my post on contouring: BENEFITS OF CONTOURING & HIGHLIGHTING.

2. Let's start with the eyes. I washed Iya's lid with a lilac colored shadow first and contoured her crease with a darker lavender shade. I highlighted her brow bones with a matte shadow in Bone and blended a white shimmer shadow on the inner corners of her eyes to make it look alive so it's won't appear too smoky.

3. If you were to sport this look for day, skip the liner. For a night out, line your eyes with a black khol pencil and blend the line with a Q-tip to soften the edges, and slightly give you that smoky effect.

4. Curl your lashes and apply 2 coats of mascara to lengthen and thicken them. This will make your eyes appear wide-eyed. So girly! I love it!

5. For Iya's cheeks, I used a mousse blush. Lancôme has Magie Blush in this pink shade that would go perfectly with your lilac eyes. Concentrate on the apples of your cheeks to make you look flushed and youthful! Focusing on applying blush on your temples and your cheekbones may look dated and "seasoned".

6. Iya's lips are nice and full at the bottom, but thinner on top. To even this out, I used 2 shades of lip pencils. A lighter shade on top, and a half shade darker at the bottom. This trick will make your lips even. Line your lips first with the pencil and fill them in, by doing this, your lipstick or gloss has something to adhere to.

7. Set your makeup by dusting your face with translucent powder mixed with iridescent powder to give you a dewy, glowing look. An extremely matte face can make you look too made up and dry.

8. Finish off by letting your hair loose! Tying it would make you look like you're too "fixed" and uptight. By letting your hair down, you'll look more relaxed and fun!
