#liptalktuesdays #events

Last February 5 marks a very special day for Happy Skin Cosmetics and Liz Uy fans because Happy Skin launches its second collaboration with a celebrity, and this time it's with Manila's style icon Liz Uy! Last year's collaboration was with Kris Aquino, which the brand came out with a single lip color called Valentine Kiss. This year, they are out with three dazzling shades that would surely make you look and feel like an icon yourself!

Inspired by her bestselling book, StyLIZed: Liz Uy’s Ten Style Essentials, Liz Uy collaborates with Happy Skin to create limited-edition lipsticks so you can dress up your lips! “Lipstick is a fashion essential because it completes a woman’s look,” she explains. “Just like shoes, the right lip color can change your entire look.”

I have known Liz since college and she's just one of my most favorite people. She is sweet, funny, and really kalog. Down to earth in spite of her great success in her career! We have worked on several shoots in the past when I was just starting my career as a makeup artist in 2005, and a big part of my success in the industry was because of this amazing woman! I can't help but feel proud of where Liz has arrived today. So, before anything else, I want to say, congratulations Liz!

More after the break!

Branded with her StyLIZed insignia, a fitting play of words on the style icon’s name, this marks the celebrity stylist’s stamp of approval for this special Happy Skin lippie collection. She first launched her StyLIZed book during her birthday last February 2014. This year, she celebrates her birthday again with another launch under the StyLIZed branding.
Here's pregnant me posing in front of their cute kiosk display. This is how their display at Beauty Bar looks like too.
For every Happy Skin StyLIZed lippie sold, a portion of sales will go to Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc., which helps end poverty by restoring dignity to the poor through community building. Gawad Kalinga made an unforgettable impact on Liz while she was volunteering for relief operations in Tacloban to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan. The #walangiwanan commitment of Gawad Kalinga volunteers made an impact to the stylist. “It’s been years and Gawad Kalinga still has not forgotten about the community,” Liz shares.

“It’s my first time creating my own lipstick shade. I didn’t realize it was so hard to concoct your own palette!” she confesses. “I wanted to create something I will really use and what I feel other people will use.”

I swatched the lippies at the event and I just fell in love with the red shade immediately. As you all already know, I am a red lippie kinda gal! Or anything bright-colored!
Even their deserts are inspired by their products!
Look at all that fresh sushi that I can't have! Hahaha! Thank goodness I just came from lunch with my sister that I am too stuffed to even drool over the sushi buffet and the sweets!

What made her decide to collaborate with Happy Skin? “It’s a Filipino brand I believe in,” Liz says of Happy Skin founded by beauty forces Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez and Rissa Mananquil-Trillo. “It’s not everyday one gets offered to be part of a special collaboration. It’s exciting to concoct your own shades and see Filipinas really wearing it!”

“Liz was extremely hands-on with creating the collection,” says Rissa Mananquil-Trillo, co-founder of Happy Skin cosmetics. “Every detail you see did not go past her trained fashion eye.” Co-founder Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez explains, “It’s the first time Happy Skin lippies will be encased in metallic gold, silver and bronze tubes. This concept was part of her vision for the collection.”

And below, here's a photo of me and FemaleNetwork's Ira Nopuente. Don't we look just fresh faced? Hehehe... Very #styLIZed don't you think so?
The Happy Skin founders further explain that the acrylic bag was also another must in the celerity stylist’s list – a beautiful piece that doubles as a fashion accessory. And the packaging? Jacqe and Rissa reveal that Liz chose every fashion item printed on the box. “If you look closely, you’ll see that Liz made sure that it illustrates items from her book on ten style essentials,” shares Rissa.

Liz welcomes us to the event and she's just all smiles and has a very sunshine-y aura. You will feel at ease around her.
Usually working behind the camera with the biggest celebrities in the country, stylist Liz Uy is this time front and center for the Happy Skin StyLIZed campaign. “Yes, lipstick has always been my weakness,” she confesses. “My love for makeup started when I was doing editorial shoots. After every shoot, makeup artists would play with my face,” Liz fondly recalls. “From then on, I found out that makeup is such a powerful weapon for us girls. It can totally transform you into a different person.”
Liz also celebrates her birthday so we toasted to her birthday with pink champagne. None for me though, I had a glass of ice water to toast with!
Liz's Happy Skin birthday cake is such a cutie! I love it!
Here's me with my friend and beauty blogger, Martha Sta. Barbara of The Beauty Junkee posing as bag twinsies! I love this girl, she never fails to make me laugh!

The set of three limited-edition lippies also comes in an acrylic clutch set (P1,799) and a leatherette case set (P1,499). “These are my favorite lip colors that I consider fashion essentials to our kits,” says Liz. “This is for the woman who is independent, feminine and fashionable.”

We all received the Acrylic Set from Happy Skin and we were just so thrilled! I can't wait to use this clutch for my next event! My phone can't fit in it though but all my other makeup essentials can! Never leave home without lipstick for retouch!
Now let's talk about these new lippies! I am very excited to try these out for myself on my lips because so far I have only swatched them on my hand. And the hand and the lips have different acidities and reactions to the pigment so I am excited to see the effect of the shades it would have on my lips.
The Liz Uy Shut Up & Kiss Me lippies come in three fabulous shades. Happy Skin usually name their products in cutesy names, so this is the first time they will name their lippies related to fashion! Liz Uy was very hand-on in naming her lippies as well.

You can buy them individually for P599 each, or buy them in a set of three. The Happy Skin StyLIZed collection gives you new pouting essentials in three (3) limited-edition Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie shades: 24 CARATS (pink), RED CARPET (red), and STYLE ICON (nude).
This is the first time Happy Skin is using metallic casing for their lippies too and I'm glad they went through with it because these lippies just look so chic! They look like regular lippies with metallic casings but in a chubby crayon form.
I have been a fan of Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Lippies so I don't need to elaborate on how much I love their top-notch packaging. If you want to see my other Happy Skin lippie reviews, you can find the reviews here: First Kiss and Girls Night Out here, Honeymoon Glow, Just Say Yes, and Playing Footsie here, Summer Crush, Sunset Kiss, and The Morning After here, Just Married here, and from the Holiday Collection Lippies 2014 here.
Judging by the swatches, I am already loving the bright shades. I always find that my skin tone is immediately brightened up with brightly colored lippies so I always opt for them. It really complements my fair skin tone. I find that nude lippies make me look washed out but let's see shall we?
I am loving this nude shade of lippies for girly days. I am not much of a muted, nude lippie kinda gal but believe me, there are days when I just don't feel like wearing brightly colored lipsticks. Ha! I love how this shade makes me look so sweet and uber girly. I guess you can say that it does suit me too! I'm just not used to it though.
One can never go wrong with a brightly colored lippie if you want an instant pick-me-upper. I believe this pink will go with any skin tone and color because. At this day and age, everyone can wear any lip color because it's all about confidence and self expression. Besides, we all have different levels of acidity so a more "customized" pink will adjust to your face.

It's a little similar with PLAYING FOOTSIE.
Yes, this is my favorite from the collaboration. A hot red-orange bold lip color that seems to just hug my lips perfectly! I love how sultry and sexy I feel when I wear this and they make my teeth instantly white, and my skin tone brighter!

This lippie reminds me of my favorite MISTLETOE KISS but this one has a bit more orange to it which makes it a bit warmer.

So tell me, which lippie will you get from this collection?
