#productreview

I have been obsessing about Revlon's SkinLights ever since they discontinued it years ago. I have been dying to look for an alternative because I haven't found the perfect one! (I really just wish Revlon would just give in and bring SkinLights back!)

I have heard about Benefit's Beam Line (High Beam, Sun Beam and Moon Beam) but I don't quite like the shade they come in. I went to Benefit last week because I had to buy something from my friend when I came across "Girl Meets Pearl".

Benefit Girl Meets Pearl (PhP 1,600)
Packaging is so attractive! I think it's one of the factors that pushed me to buy it too was because of the packaging. LOL (Like you didn't know already -this one's a sucker for cute packaging)

I was choosing between this and Watts Up, but I found this to be easier to apply, rather than the solid stick. This of course is my preference, but it's really up to you.

One must be careful in applying illuminizers (I mean, in general. Not only this one in particular) because they can do more harm than good. If you apply too much, you can look one of two ways: Either you look like you're going for a night out (unless you ARE going for a night out), or you'll look like you are ready to be fried. So apply on areas you need highlighting, hence, the name.

I personally love highlighting my cheekbones, browbones, the area above my brows, a bit on the chin, and a bit in between my eyebrows.

Girl Meets Pearl has a light creamy consistency that spills over the "grill" when you twist the bottom of the tube. The tube dispenses the right amount of product that you need because it has that "clicking mechanism" that doesn't allow you to over do the twisting.

I don't apply it directly from the tube though, I dispense a small amount and then I swipe my middle finger on top of the tube and pat apply on my chosen areas.

Don't you just love cream products that can be applied ON TOP of your makeup? Most liquid or cream products can't be applied on top of already-set foundation because it cakes and it erases the base. But not this one.

Just  a little goes a very long way. I love applying it in patting motions, even when blending rather than wiping it back and forth. By patting the product, it won't smudge the makeup underneath.

I love the gorgeous highlight it brings my cheekbones! I just love the dewy look so this was really a perfect purchase. As if the 1 million products I put on my face in the morning is not enough, I am adding this product to my daily makeup routine!

HICCUP: For some reason, the effect does not last the whole day if you use is sparingly. So I layer a thicker application for it to last. Or one other tip to make it last is to apply a highlight powder on top of it so that it will last longer. It would be like setting a cream product with powder. I personally love Physicians Formula's Mineral Glow Pearl in Translucent Pearl, but I heard that MAC Mineralize SkinFinish in Lightscapade is great too!

If you have oily skin, skip applying highlighter on your T-Zone. Stick with your cheekbones and your browbones!

    1. Hmm... Highlighters are pretty tricky to find here in Manila since brands know that Pinoys like ultra matte skin. The best and the most affordable highlighter I can recommend is Physician's Formula Mineral Glow Pearl but it's not available here (YET, I hope). But you can also try NYX Mosaic Powder in Highlighter, I've never tried it myself but I heard a lot of good stuff about it :)

    1. Hey sweetie! Well, If you want a matte highlighter, you can just use a matte eyeshadow in a nice bone shade :) Don't use white because it's going to be too light and stark :)

  6. Ahhhh Benefit you just lure us in with your adorable packaging then seal the deal with the product itself. I like the convenience but too pricey for something that doesn't last most of the day (and I sweat like a man too!) :)) Oh well. I heard the elf bronzer in luminance is a good highlighter, have you tried that one? :)

  7. I love Benefit's packaging as always! Love the highlighter too. As for me, I use shimmery eyeshadows to act as highlighter kase I don't have a separate product pa for that one. Since Benefit is still too expensive for me as a student, I would love the try the one from Elf :) Thanks also for the tips ms sabs! It's highly appreciated :)
