#spotlight #productreview #events

To tell you the truth, I have always been skeptic about mineral makeup. I thought that it was just a term they used as a hype by cosmetic brands help them sell their products.

But when I was invited by VOM to be one of their Brand Ambassadors, I had to take the plunge and did some intense Google-ing before the event to find out more about Mineral Makeup. I had a complete 180 when I attended the Virginia Olsen Minerals (VOM) bloggers event last April 19. I got to experience the products first hand and did more than a dozen product swatches testing the pigments, texture, and lasting power.

Virginia Olsen Mineral Eyeshadows S/S 2013 Collection, PhP 150/gram
This S/S 2013, they have more mattes than shimmer as requested by VOM fans. Bloggers from the Metro got to try them first hand! This collection will be out sometime in May-June.

Here is a closer look by category:

The Nudes
The Purples
The Oranges
The Greens
Our host, Brand Marketing Assistant Hazel was all smiles warmly welcoming us at the event and told us all about the brand and the products. She made us swatch the S/S 2013 collection to death and to drool after.

Then we also indulged in swatching colors from the current collection:

Powder concealers? I didn't know there was such a thing. I was told that you can apply it either wet or dry. I have so much to learn about mineral makeup. (Exciting!)

Here are three shades from the S/S 2013 collection that really caught my eye:

Chameleon
Summer Sun
Donnarence
And another one that isn't an eyeshadow, but a khol eyeliner:

Khol Eyeliner in Blue
Since we ran out of time, I wasn't able to take swatches of the mineral powders. But I will get to soon...

VOM has their own line of vegan brushes available for sale too! They are made with what seems like pony hair but it's actually a Japanese technology that is simulated to mimic real hair... Sorry, I forgot what it's called (*sheepish*)

And the gorgeous and awesome girls I met, fellow beauty addicts: (L-R) Gem of rarevanity.com, Mich of micheatsandshops.com, Mhisha of thetouchofyellow.com, ME, marketing manager Jirbie (in white), Jen of kikaycorner.net, marketing assistant Hazel, Bing of theprojectawesome.com, and Dawn of thepeachypinksisters.blogspot.com

So before I go, let me just tell you things I learned about VOM mineral eyeshadows from doing the touchy-feely thing. VOM's eyeshadows are smooth, they are not chalky like the brands I have tried in the past. If they say it's shimmer, it's SHIMMER, and when they say matte, it's MATTE. Shades are not half-baked. What pigment you see in the pot is what you get.

The only thing I have to get used to us the whole loose powder thing. For the past 8 years I have been using pressed eyeshadows so opening and pouring product from the pot to the cover to get product will take a little time in getting used to.

So everyone! I would like to announce, I am proud to say that I am VOM's newest Brand Ambassadress!

Thank you to the Virginia Olsen Team!

So... I made a video using for the first time, my new VOM eyeshadows. I wanted to do a look that would bring out the pigments of these shadows so I decided to go with a Kristen Stewart inspired makeup look.

    1. I had the same experience with mineral makeup before! The ones I've tried were chalky and didn't stick so I thought all mineral makeup brands were the same until I tried VOM :) I love the pigment and they glide on smoothly! You should try them! Use my code so you can get 10% off VOM products ♥
