Show Me Some Skin!

OMG. Can I just say, before I begin posting this beauty blog post I wrote for MegaStyle, can I just mention my friend and colleague at MegaStyle Cat Triviño? She is the one who made this beautiful graphic illustration of Kim Kardashian and Angelina Jolie WITHOUT a mouse! Don't you just love her works? I'm so proud of her! Thanks Cat! Sorry I made it so hard for you, but you pulled it off, and I'm so proud. GALENG!!

I watermarked the photos using my blog name so that it won't be easily grabbed, but all art-works belong to Cat Triviño  :)

There was a time when I adored Kim Kardashian’s makeup, and for a while it was all “I want the Kim Kardashian no-pores makeup look”. But her 15 minutes are up in the foundation department.

Too much liquid foundation and powders can put stress on your skin because it weighs the skin down, making your skin age pre-maturely. The mannequin-like, super matte skin is so passé. Most of the time, one can’t tell anymore who’s who underneath all that makeup.

One A-list Hollywood celeb whose makeup I have always adored is Angelina Jolie. Her makeup is simple and timeless.

She shows a lot of glowing skin, hardly any blush or exaggerated contours. Just her classic cat-eye look applied with a single stroke of black eyeliner to emphasize her gorgeous eyes, and sheer nude gloss to emphasize those trademark lips of hers. Sometimes when we’re lucky, we get to see her with a bit of red lips too. It’s not even applied heavily, more like a tint of color dabbed on the lips with fingertips.

Almost-bare skin is in, and ultra matte cake foundation is out. Show some skin and get your glow on!

HOW TO:

1. Mix a light moisturizer and liquid foundation and apply only on places you need it (cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose). Try: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 PA+

2. Heat concealer on your fingers to make it easier to blend. Pat, do not rub! Set everything lightly with a translucent powder. Try: Laura Mercier Undercover Pot

3. Swirl a light shimmer blush on your cheekbones with a kabuki brush to avoid streaks.Try: NARS Blush in Madly

4. Line your upper lash lines with a liquid liner. Curl your lashes and apply 2 coats of mascara. TRY: Revlon’s Grow Lash Mascara

5. Use a lipstick that looks like a tint. Use lipgloss to give the illusion of pouty lips. TRY: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Lip Duo in Perfect Peach

  1. I'm so torn between Maybelline's The Falsies and Revlon's Grow Lash Mascara. Which one is better Ms. Sabs?

    1. Hmm... They're both equally good, but value for money? I'll go for Maybelline ;) But if you want to splurge a little bit, go for Revlon!
