My Birthday Lunch at Rambla

#sundayfoodie

Ok, this post has been long overdue, but it can't go un-published since it has been one of the best Spanish restaurants I've tried to date. Aside from Tapella and Cerveseria, I don't know any other good Spanish restaurants to go to.

This year, on my 39th birthday, my two sisters (one by blood, and one by destiny), treated me to a yummy lunch at Rambla in Salcedo Village. I've been to Rambla in Rockwell before when my sister and I had lunch with our favorite OB, but was only able to try a few of their dishes. Not like this.

My sister Margs knows I am not a big fan of Spanish food, but she does know that I love cheese and cold cuts. I can have cheese and cold cuts all day everyday if I had my way, so she wanted to treat me to a place where they served good cheese and cold cuts platters, and Rambla did not disappoint.

On a side note, I did my makeup extra well today. I just have to mention that I loved my makeup that day. I was wearing my new lippie from BTLA, and my foundation from Bobbi Brown which made me look fresh all day!
I am not a food blogger, but I do love writing about the restaurants I eat at. So what may be good for me, may not be good for others. So it's all relative and keep an open mind.

We ate at Rambla the day after my birthday. Before our celebration started, the boys came in for a quick visit to say hi to Ninang Naisa before going to my mom and dad's house.

I can't really use the term "authentic" because I have never been to Spain, but if this is how the food in Spain really tastes like, then maybe it's time to get a visa. Just when I thought I have tried the best Spanish food in the Metro, here comes Rambla. Yes, their food is excellent and absolutely worth it! It would be the perfect place to have a date. Their servings are moderately sized.

Of course I started with the white sangria. It's really good and refreshing. Makes me wish I still smoked so I can enjoy it with a cigarette. Ha!

The paella was really good. I am a black paella fan myself, but this one is really tasty. It could use a little bit more burnt bottom, but it's delicious just the same.

Just a few of our favorites from the menu. We ordered some more but I wasn't able to take pics anymore because we were too excited and too h-Angry to take photos.
Solomillo ala Parrilla (Grilled Beef Tenderloin, Mashed Potato, and Foie Gravy Sauce), PhP 1,650
Salmon and Salmon -Marinated Salmon, Salmon Caviar, Rocotta Cheese,
and Air Baguettes, PhP 690

Now this is the reason why we ate at Rambla. The cheese and cold cuts platter. I think this is a good thing to order if you are having a night cap with friends. Great to have with alcoholic drinks.

But for us, we ate it like it was a course.

The food at Rambla is really really good. You can have great Spanish food at a much reasonable price, but it won't taste this way. I have tried Cerveseria and Tapella before -both really good Tapas restaurants, but not like this.

It was a really great birthday celebration with my loves. Good food, good company, and awesome conversations are always the best!
