#liptalktuesdays

It's always a good day when I'm talking about lippies! I am a lippie kinda gal so these always excite me, most specially when I make new discoveries.

I have been hiatus for the past 2 years since my daughter was born. Breast feeding and teaching at The Center for Aesthetic Studies took a lot of my time. But it also gave me some time to do a whole lot of online shopping.

So, now let's talk lippies.

I was told that ColourPop has been popping up everywhere for a while now. I Googled reviews for it here in the Philippines but found no detailed info how they fair. I didn't discover ColourPop until a few months ago. I have been suffering from sleepless nights recently ever since we moved houses, and online [window] shopping is my ultimate companion.

After researching a lot online, I found a legit seller on Instagram who sells authentic ColourPop cosmetics from the US. I did not want to buy from Shopee or Lazada because a lot of those sellers sell counterfeit. I mean have you read my first shopping experience at Lazada?

ColourPop Best of Lippie Stix Collection in Staycation, PhP 1,800

Finding legit cosmetics, specially online is like finding a needle in a haystack. Apparently, a lot of sellers online sell fake ColourPop cosmetics and pass them as authentic. Hashtag SCARY. Php 1,800 is a lot of money, but I have read some of her feedback in her page and all of them were positive as being an authentic seller.

I found @colourpop.philippines in Instagram. An online store selling authentic ColourPop cosmetics and Kylie Kits (@ladiesbox_ph) owned by Yukiko Recio. I sent her inquiries on her products passed 12mn and I was surprised that she replied to my inquiries! I asked about different products but it's the ColourPop Best of Lippie Stix Collection I fell in love with the most.

It's not bad at PhP 1,800 for 6 lippies, it comes out to about PhP 300 per lipstick, plus they all come in very wearable shades.
I received my orders a day and a half later in mint condition. It's properly packaged, wrapped in ample amount of bubble wrap, and the box remained intact. I love how professional this seller is, she replies right away and she doesn't get annoyed even with the one million questions thrown her way. Even when I asked her several times if her stuff were authentic. I know how some sellers get annoyed with questions like these, but this one doesn't.

She even sends me what she has available on hand without me asking her to do so. I just love sellers who have great customer service!

I really enjoyed how the set was packaged. She even has personalized cards with handwritten notes.

The lippies come in a box with a mirror attached to it, making storage easy. You can just pull out the box, and use the mirror to retouch your makeup.
I love slim lippies like these because they don't take up a lot of space in cosmetic pouches. You can easily bring two, even three so you can easily transform your makeup look from day to night without the bulk in your purse.
Just by looking at the product on the tube at first glance, it actually looks kind of creamy. I thought the finish would be creamy and not matte.
I know an inch and a half of product does not seem a lot, but I can assure you that they last a while, depends on how often you use each one.
Here are the swatches on my hand. Just remember though that swatches on the arm like this does not translate to how it would actually look on your lips. It should just give you an idea on the color undertones and how it would look on actual skin.

I love how each shade is wearable, and are definitely mixable. You can blend the colors together to make a new shade, and that's what I love about these lippies. Not that you can't do those in another brand, I just love how they mix really well with one another.
As much as I love the shades, I don't think I would be purchasing this brand again though. I did not like the texture and the consistency of the lippie because it was too waxy for me. Kind of like Celeteque's Lip products which I have not reviewed yet actually.
Me using a blend of Cookie and Grunge
If you are thinking about buying ColourPop, I suggest not getting the whole set. try it out first because you might not like the consistency. I like my lippies to glide on, and should not feel awkward on my lips specially when it lasts a while.

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS:

Length of usage before review: Everyday for the one week

PROS
  • Good packaging.
  • Affordable.
  • Long-lasting.
  • You can mix the shades together real well.

CONS
  • Has a waxy consistency.
  • Feels a little uncomfortable on the lips. Kind of like applying pure bees wax on your lips.
  • Available only online so you can't really swatch them at a store.

MY OVERALL RATING: ★★★

Retail Price: $6 per piece (colourpop.com)
Purchased For: PhP 1,800
Will I re-purchase? Maybe.
Will I recommend it? Yes.

  1. Love this balanced review! The colours are lovely but it's a shame they feel a little uncomfortable. There's a ton of product included in each though, which is wonderful.
