TMM's Beauty Product Awards 2013
#TMMawards
Hey my beauties! Welcome to The Makeup Maven Beauty Product Awards. This is my first blog awards, and here I am going to let you know my best/favorite products of 2013.
These are products that I have purchased more than twice because it really worked not only on myself but I have gotten a lot of compliments on from my clients! So without further ado, here are the winners for The Makeup Maven's first ever Beauty Product Awards!
In no particular order:
1. Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35 PA+++
I love this BB Cream because it glides on easily on the skin. It has the consistency of a moisturizer but it dries quite well with a good coverage. It feels light on the skin too, perfect for our humid climate. I have reviewed a lot of good BB Creams last year but most of them are quite thick and makes it very hard to spread on the face. This one really stood out.
2. Palgantong Theatrical Powder in Original Beige
I know that this powder has a very light peachy beige tint but I guarantee you this powder sets translucent and makes the skin look absolutely radiant. I have done more than 50 brides last year and this is the loose powder that I have been using. Whether my bride was morena, Mestiza, or has beautiful Chinese skin, this loose powder blended so well. The consistency is silky smooth and very fine! Not chalky at all, it doesn't cause the makeup to cake even if you layer it on!
3. Fanny Serrano Single Eyeshadows
If you are looking for affordable eyeshadows, Fanny Serrano is the way to go. Pigment is fantastic and you can create your own personalised palette! They have empty quad palettes that you can fill up on your own. Affordable at PhP 195.00 per eyeshadow only! They started out with pretty much the basic shades but now they have a wide array of shades to choose from!
4. ELF Healthy Glow Bronzer in Warm Tan
I have been using this bronzer consistently for my personal use the whole of last year and have given a couple to my friends as well when they were looking for a good affordable bronzer. I love that it has the right amount of shimmer than when the light hits your cheekbones, your cheekbones are immediately lifted. It doesn't look shimmery when light doesn't hit it so that makes it really good! It doesn't look muddy on the skin as well. It has a very good tan glow.
5. ARTDECO Glam Deluxe Collection -Glam Star Blusher
The reason why I love this blush is because it has both orange and red undertones on it so it makes it perfect for any skin tone. It has the perfect amount of shimmer as well so you can just swirl your blush brush around the pan and you can mix the shades to the perfect blush that is right for your skin tone. It adapts really well on the skin. This blush is the reason why I carry such a small makeup kit for jobs. It's very versatile no matter whose face I am doing!
6. Maybelline Hypersharp Liner in Black
This liquid eyeliner pen is one of the best I have tried because it creates such precise lines. Cat eye looks are a breeze because of the hyper sharp tip it has. Formula dries very black as well and it doesn't peel off nor does it fade right away as the day progresses. It's easy to control for beginners and it's even more of a breeze for expert liner wearers.
7. MAC Gel Liner in Blacktrack
If you are the liner brush kinda gal, then this gel liner pot is the right formula for you. It dries up eventually but only just before you finish the bottle. I love that it's very black and you can use different brushes to apply it as well!
8. K-Palette Lasting 2Way Eyebrow in Dark Brown
My brows is the least of my problems but I do love doing my brows. I love emphasizing them with K-Palette's 2Way Eyebrow because it gives a very natural look. I don't like the drawn-on brow look so this is perfect to use because you can never over use it even though it's a pen type.
9. Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Color in Gabrielle
I got this lipstick in a press kit and I was so surprised how the shade is a perfect red! I am very acidic so lippies tend to turn orange-y on my lips. But surprisingly, this shade remains intact and the formula is creamy and glides on smoothly on the lips. Very moisturizing as well! It's not long-lasting but you can layer it on by blotting and re-applying it and what you'll get it a lipstick color that lasts the whole day.
10. Snoe Lippy Cheeky - Lip and Cheek Tint
This is the most blendable tint I have tried the whole year. I love that it comes in different shades as well! I specially love the smell because they smell like fruits. You can never end up with so much on your cheeks because it blends very well into the skin! It doesn't dry right away as soon as it comes in contact with air so you have time to blend with your fingers.
11. Maybelline The Falsies Mascara
There are so much great mascaras that came out last year but I keep coming back to The Falsies. The formula just works best on my lashes and it keeps the curl of my lashes intact.
12. The FaceShop Eyelash Adhesive
This one took a while for me to discover. I have been doing makeup for almost 10 years and it was only last year that I discovered that The FaceShop's eyelash adhesive was the one that stuck the longest! The thing about doing makeup for brides is that you have to make sure that everything is waterproof including the false eyelashes that you apply! This is the best eyelash glue I have tried in 10 years!
13. Shiseido Eyelash Curler
When it came to lash curlers, I was biased to one brand for a while. But then again I got my hands on Shiseido's and I was blasted away! I love that even after continuous use for months, the rubber takes a while to wear out and the lash curler remains sturdy and tough. In tagalog, "hindi siya lumalambot masyado". The curl is C-curved and not the L-shaped curl that some curlers produce.
14. Shu Uemura Skin Purifier
I know that Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil users will look at me with a raised brow when I say that it is the best makeup remover, but really, it is THE BEST makeup remover I have every tried. What I do is that I pump about 2-3 pumps on my hand and I massage it on my fully made-up face and all the makeup just melts away easily! Even heavily lined eyes with really black kohl eyeliner. I can't live without this cleansing oil.
15. BRTC Perfect Calming BB Remover Cleanser
This cleanser is hard to get hand on but the long wait is totally worth it. What I love about this cleanser is that it really lightens dark spots, and ONLY dark spots. My face doesn't turn white. I love the way it makes my skin so supple and smooth.
16. Moringa-O2 Malunggay Herbal Facial Toner
I love that this toner is reduces the inflammation I have in my face. When I do breakout, it keeps the bumps at bay, it reduced the redness and the pain! And I hardly broke out with this toner. The smell may be a little over powering, but I saw past it because I really love this toner. Not only does it prevent the skin from braking out, the skin doesn't feel tight at all after you use it. It removes dirt and excess oil and I have received a lot of compliments saying how my skin was brighter.
17. Physiogel Intensive Cream
I love using this cream at night on top of all the night regimen that I put on my face. After I cleanse and I tone, I apply my serums and spot erasers and then I seal everything with this intensive cream. When I wake up, my skin is extremely supple and the foundation glides on so smoothly! This intensive cream really restored the glow to my skin because my skin is flake-free! The way my skin feels the next morning is addicting, so in the morning I can skip the heavy moisturizer and just apply quick drying sunblock before makeup.
18. Vidal Sassoon Premium Intensive Hair Mask
For those of you have been following my blog for a while, you would know my hair adventure. My hair is very very dry and extremely damaged because of all the hair colouring. I need an intense hair mask that would restore the moisture and Vidal Sassoon did just that! It's just a little tricky to use but the results are totally worth it. The dry tips of my hair became softer and more manageable.
19. Parian Spirit Brush Cleaner
When I started makeup artistry, the only brush cleaner I used was Smashbox even that one wasn't as good as Parian Spirit. When I tried this one about 4 years ago, I was totally hooked. I was introduced to Parian Spirit by my friend who owns a makeup store and I just fell in love with how it thoroughly cleans the brushes without drying them! They're moisturizing! Most brush cleaners turn the hairs brittle, and this one doesn't. It's affordable too!
20. Pixxel Cellophane Hair Color Wax
Late last year I was obsessed with obtaining deep red hair. And this hair color wax achieved that! I love that you use it like you would a hair mask, and the results are promising. I have finished 3 of these already and I just adore the shade of my hair that this product gives.
Well, that's it! Thank you so much for reading! I do would like to stress out that just because some of the products that I have tried in the past is not in this list does not mean they aren't any good. This list is just the top products I have for 2013. Ones that I couldn't live without last 2013!
So, let's re-start the clock, and let's see what great products we will have this year!
Happy New Year Makeup Maven-ers!
