#events

Last September 29, I attended the Max Factor event where they launched the new Marilyn Monroe Collection. This is not the first ever lipstick that is from the Marilyn Monroe collection, but last year, Max Factor launched their Marilyn Monroe GlamJan Campaign where women from around the globe posted a photo of themselves wearing red lipstick, and told stories of how red lipstick has empowered them. I loved that campaign.

Me being the red lipstick kind of gal, it was always a welcome thing for me to be able to tell my red lipstick story. I must have about 10 different shades of red because I have one for every mood.

So at the launch of the new Marilyn Monroe lipstick collection, I was really thrilled that Max Factor has come up with 4 new shades of red that promises to cater to different women with different skin tones.

I know of a lot of women who have been wanting to try red lipstick but they don't know where to start. Most start with popular shades that they see around in social media, but this is not how I would advise my clients to go about when looking for the right red lippie.
Choosing the right red lippie is pretty easy, and everyone can wear red! It's just a matter of finding the right shade of red for you. Firstly, I wouldn't advise my clients to target popular red shades. Although this is a good place to start, I would go wider with the selection.

Try them on and see if the shade that would go well with your skin tone should have more pink? more blue undertones perhaps? At the event, there are 4 amazing new shades for you to choose from, and it really does depend on your skin tone.
First step was to ask for advise from makeup artist Bobby Carlos. He helped guests choose the right red, choosing from four new shades: Ruby Red, Sunset Red, Marilyn Berry and Marilyn Cabernet. Bobby advised that I go for the Ruby Red because I was fair and had cool undertones.
I actually tried on all the shades on myself at the event, and although they were all oh-so-pretty, Marilyn Cabernet was my choice. I think it just looked gorgeous on me.
So, why Marilyn Monroe? Marilyn, the newest glamour ambassador of Max Factor is a testament to the transformational powers a single stick of red lipstick holds. Marilyn and her iconic red lipstick is just the icon for power, sophistication, and glamour.
In the quest for beauty and their mission to make every woman feel beautiful, Max Factor adapts the #MyMarilyn Movement, which supports the belief that every woman is stunning and has the right to look and feel beautiful with the help of makeup.

Not only red lipstick, but makeup in general aims to boost self-confidence and helps women rise against adversities.
The shades from the collection are all in vibrant shades of red with moisturizing formula, and enhanced with fresh citrus notes and sensuous vanilla undertones for that extra oomph!

Max Factor encourages women to go ahead and come out of their shells and be more of the woman they are! Red makes women more confident, more empowered, more daring, and be able to embrace and own their #MyMarilyn moment. All you need really is the right shade that is perfect for you.

Here is a close up photo of the shade Ruby Red. It's a gorgeous true red shade inspired by Marilyn and her iconic red lip. Although I found it a little bit too red for me, I wanted to go deeper.
Here are the swatches of the four new shades from the collection. They're really creamy and glides on silkily. I love how you don't ever need to use a primer before applying their lippies, or a gloss on top. It's a breath of fresh air from all the matte lippies you see all over social media right now. It's ultra moisturizing, and the color is really pigmented.
I am really happy with my choice of red lippie. I love how this shade has purple undertones making it really perfect for a sultry look. Can be used for day or night!

Each shade promised a bold pop of color that's unique for every woman's individual skin tone. These new lippies also features a unique blend of oils, butter, and a new fragrance that helps nourish, protect, and smoothen lips with each application.
This photo below was taken from my post last year from the Marilyn Monroe GlamJan Campaign. I am wearing the Marilyn Monroe shade Ruby Tuesday. I think this shade is just gorgeous. I am also wearing the matching red polish from Max Factor which is also names Ruby Tuesday.
Max Factor Marilyn Monroe Lipstick Collection is now available at the Zalora Pop-up Store at BHS Central Square (under Mango Tree). It will be made available in leading department stores nationwide from October 2016.

  2. You look gorgeous in that last photo! Though I don't think I'll be buying anything from this collection - I've had terrible experiences with Max Factor.

    1. Oh no! That's too bad :( I hope you will give them a chance though because these are new lippies, and maybe the new formula will suit you better :)
