#tmmandbaby

Hey guys! It's been a while since my last post! The reason for this is I just found out last month that I am three months pregnant! It's great news, specially for me because it took me so long to get pregnant the first time, and this one came so easily and so fast!

The morning sickness is unbearable though, compared to my pregnancy with Henri where I had absolutely no morning sickness at all, this is something really new to me. So now I am almost on my fourth month, my morning sickness is finally easing up so I am able to sit and blog again! -at least for now though. LOL

So, during pregnancy, I suffer from a lot of skin problems, and also my scalp experiences some changes that drives me absolutely insane. First of all, you can't use any shampoo that contains harmful chemicals or steroids for gigantic dandruff. Or hair products that can control oiliness, you will have to stick to organic and natural ones to be on the safe side. I'm so happy that these products are now here in Manila to make our pregnant lives easier!

Avalon Organics Therapy Scalp Normalizing Shampoo, PhP 495 | Scalp Normalizing Conditioner, PhP 475

One of the main problems I suffer from during pregnancy is having a really itchy scalp and gigantic dandruff appear. It's gross really. My scalp thickens, and I just can't stop picking them off which is bad, I know, and because I keep touching my scalp, my hair becomes oily right away.

During my pregnancy with Henri, I used The Body Shop's Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. That one worked really well for me the last time, but I wanted to try something new this time. I have always loved Avalon Organics' packaging and have been really curious about their products. Honestly? I have no reason to use organic products when I'm not pregnant so I couldn't really justify the purchase of buying shampoo and conditioner this pricey.

Boy, do I love the smell of this shampoo. During pregnancy, I can't stand the smell of most beauty products and perfumes, not even my favorite Dove Intense Repair Hair products! Basically, I love natural smelling products now, or unscented if I can have it my way!

Made with natural ingredients with no parabens or other harmful chemicals, this shampoo surprisingly lathers real well on your hair!
The shampoo is a clear gel-like texture and consistency just like regular shampoo, it's really smooth to apply too on your hair and it lathers really easily, no matter how greasy your hair is! You just need a little to make a good lather. But as far as the scent goes, you can only smell the Tea Tree which is really revitalizing and not annoying at all for pregnant women like me. I really like it! As a first time user of this shampoo, I noticed that there wasn't any tingling nor cooling effect on my scalp while working up a lather, but I did feel a slightly cooling effect after washing. I don't know if that's good or bad for some people but personally, I don't really mind about the cooling effect.
After air drying my hair, I felt my scalp feeling cleaner than it usually does with normal shampoo and conditioner. My scalp felt really squeaky clean but it didn't dry out my scalp. I am loving the feeling of fresh and light scalp. Usually immediately after washing my hair with regular shampoo and conditioner, my scalp feels oily and thick, but this one didn't feel like that after.

This shampoo doesn't irritate or worsen my scalp's current condition and I didn't even scratch at my scalp either the day after, or even after my hair has just been dried. It really cleanses my scalp without compromising the condition of my hair at all. There were definitely less itchiness and flakiness and my hair doesn't feel tangled too much even when using this shampoo without the matching conditioner.

SCALP NORMALIZING CONDITIONER
The conditioner however feels a little less silky than any normal conditioner would. It does help with the tangles, but I do find my hair to be a bit "buhaghag" after drying because my hair is naturally wavy and has so much fly-aways.

Compared to using my favorite DOVE Conditioner, there really was a noticeable difference. I need conditioner because my hair can get really frizzy at times. Specially around the bangs area. After using this conditioner, it does make my hair soft, but it doesn't do much for my frizzy bangs.
Yes, it does help moisturize scalp and heal dandruff (specially the thickening of the scalp), but the conditioning when it comes to length it's not so moisturizing. Packaging wise? The bottle gets tough to squeeze after a few uses, so if you see the product go a little low, keep it upside down on your shelf.
It has a really thick and creamy consistency, but once you apply it on your hair and scalp, you will feel that it doesn't go on smoothly or silkily on the surface like how normal conditioner glides on the surface.
I have short hair, but I need to use a whole lot of this product just so my hair can be manageable after shampooing. It does help my thick and itchy scalp a lot, but I wouldn't buy this again for moisturizing my hair.

How about you? What is your go-to pregnancy shampoo and conditioner? Would love to know!
