Taking off makeup with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths

by - Wednesday, March 02, 2016

Taking the day off your face should be as much fun as it is putting it on. I love makeup but I love having to take it off just as much at the end of the day. On days I am just at home or just running some errands, I go makeup-free allowing my skin to breathe. Honestly, I only wear makeup on events because I love having my skin breathe, not only is it liberating to be sans makeup once in a while, but it's healthy on your skin too! So when you see me at the mall, I am almost always makeup free.

So, taking off makeup should be convenient because some women just want to sleep when they get home. Sometimes, when I get home from an event and I am dead tired and I still have mommy duties, I have little time to remove my makeup so I prefer using cleansing wipes to remove my makeup. Something I can do while watching the baby in his playpen. It seems as soon as I became a mom, I have to learn how to do everything fast, or even multi-task. I even learned how to do a 2-step evening skin care regimen!

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths, PhP 235 per pack
There are so many cleansing wipes/makeup removing wipes now in the market so how do you know which one to get? I reviewed different brands here before like H2O+ Cleansing Face Wipes, Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes, Nivea Cleansing Wipes, and the more recent which is the Bioré Cleansing Oil Cotton Facial Sheets. In my opinion, I can't tell you which one is better because they pretty much serve different purposes and preferences. Some may want wipes that are wetter, some drier, some softer, some stiffer, some bigger cloths, or even some prefer smaller ones.

There are tons more in the market today that I haven't tried, but this time around I will be reviewing Cetaphil's Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths.
It excites me that Cetaphil has branched out in other types of skin cleansing products. Their Cetaphil Cleanser was a staple in my professional makeup kit and I use it for cleansing and for moisturizing. It's just an all around product.

Not that they are out with cleansing cloths, I'm sure this is a product I will love as well. These cleansing cloths by Cetaphil are great for removing dirt, surface oils and make-up without leaving your skin feeling dry or irritated. So if you are not a makeup wearing person, it's still nice to use to cleanse your skin thoroughly without stripping away its natural oils. These cloths leave your skin feeling fresh and clean, without disturbing your skin's natural pH balance.
In my opinion, after using other brands of cleansing wipes, I noticed that these wipes are more versatile in my opinion. Most wipes I've used in the past have only worked in removing make-up which is basically the purpose of makeup removing wipes. But with Cetaphil, this one can be used any time because it doesn't leave a film or residue on your face like most wipes, hence, it is great to use in cleansing makeup-free skin as well. These wipes work wonders when you feel your face needs some freshening up specially after being out all day or even when you are working out.
Absolutely an amazing product to throw in your carry on bag when you're travelling or in your gym bag. These wipes are alcohol free so you can use them as often as you need them. Using baby wipes has never worked well for me because after the constant wiping and rubbing off makeup, my skin feels tender and stings too. Not only that, they're drying as well.
Added bonus: It has an actual closing lid that snaps which protects the wipes from drying out!
Cetaphil's Cleansing Cloths are big too! Probably the biggest among the other brands I have used and reviewed. It's more durable, and it doesn't leave any fiber residues on your skin. This is about double the size of a regular make-up wipe. There's no fragrance so it works well for sensitive skin, but basically for all skin types actually. You just use the wipe off makeup and there is no rinsing afterwards required.
Although it may feel like there is no product on the cloth when you first pull out one, but I guarantee you there is enough there to thoroughly remove makeup. It's a lot drier than most wipes I've used in the past, but it's better than having your face dripping in liquids when you're on the go leaving a whole lot of mess on your clothes. Not only is it removing make-up and dirt, it's keeping your face moisturized with each use.
One cloth is enough to cleanse my face full of makeup. I wasn't wearing waterproof mascara though because I have been avoiding using mascara recently but I will explain why in another blog post soon. Anyway, so I really can't explain how it will go with waterproof mascaras but I think the lack of wetness of the cloths may require you to tug on your lash full of mascara. When I know I'll let you know.

Below is a photo of half of my face makeup free using one side of the cloth. It works really well because it doesn't have that oily slick feeling on my face.
Using the other side of the cloth, I was able to remove all of my makeup and I used a toner after and hardly any makeup was left on my face. On days you are really lazy in removing your makeup (or just too drunk to thoroughly cleanse your skin), this is the way to do it.

I love how it didn't require me to wash my face after using nor did it leave my face itchy, slick of oil, or stingy after. I love the feel of the cloth as well because it's really gentle on the skin, it doesn't feel like paper on your skin.

By the way, I used OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Laguna Beach which is really water proof, and I was able to remove that using the wipes!
Overall I would say that I would rate this product a 4 star. Although it doesn't require a whole lot of product to cleanse your face, I personally prefer having to feel the wetness of the product on my skin because it makes me feel more confident that all the makeup are really removed from my skin.

But I can also say that even though these wipes does contain less product than any other makeup removing wipes I have tried in the past, it thoroughly cleanses the skin without any hiccups.
So talking about removing makeup, it's really important to remove your makeup at the end of the day because it is at night where the magic happens. It is when your skin tries to repair itself, but how can it do that if your skin is full of dirt, oil, makeup, and pollution, and whatever unmentionables thaht have stuck to your skin from being outside?

Regardless of the type of make-up you use — be it for sensitive skin, organic, all-natural or the mineral kind — they all have chemicals that can harm your skin. These chemicals, when kept on your skin for a long time tend to penetrate the deep layers of the epidermis and can cause long-term damage. Apart from causing wrinkles, other signs of ageing, making your eyelashes brittle and stopping the natural repair mechanism of your skin, these chemicals also block the natural secretion of sebum (the natural lubricant and moisturizer that your skin produces) leading to instant problems (like pimples) and long-term damage.

I don't know about you, but it had me at "brittle eyelashes".
