Having suffered from a bad hair day since the day I found out I was pregnant, I no longer couldn't color my hair so I had to endure a not-really ombre hair for the entire duration of my pregnancy until long after Henri was born.

There were "organic" and "natural" hair dyes out there but I didn't want to risk it. Besides, there's only one place in the universe I would have my hair done from now on anyway. For those of you who haven't read yet, Hairshaft s my go-to salon. Only Fred or any member of his team can touch my hair.

No, I am not being hormonal or being stubborn, it's just that I have great experience with them from day 1. Have you seen and read my first hair-formation yet? Ok so anyway, here's a back shot of my hair. If not for my very dry tips I would have to say that my color doesn't even look THAT bad. It would seem as though I did have my hair ombréd on purpose. That's one of the best things I love Hairshaft. Your hair will still look presentable even with 9 inches of regrowth happening in your hair.

Ok, so here's a play by play of my hair "procedure" so to speak. Before that, ladies (and gents), I would like to introduce you to Dennis (he's wearing dark pink polo), he's an artistic director at the Fort branch of Hairshaft. I was hoping to see Fred that day but he was extremely booked and busy so I told Fred anyone from his salon would do because I trust them that much.


Upon arriving, Dennis met me at the front (while I was still in my car) and he accompanied me to park my car in the basement (hooray for FREE valet service at Hairshaft salon everybody!). Talk about great service.

Having only 2.5 hours before heading out to a shoot, Dennis went to work right away. The first step was to retouch my hair roots with an ash brown color that is not blonde. I wanted something that was no longer high-maintenance because it would be so hard for me to keep coming back to the salon for a retouch every 3 months. I didn't even have to explain it to Dennis what color I wanted.
Step 2 would be applying a toner on my hair that would tone down the hair color to either go lighter or darker. I won't even pretend to know what that meant.
Only 20 minutes later, it was time to apply dye on my roots. Oh! Dennis applied to my roots as close to the scalp and roots as he possibly could. He did purposely avoided my scalp and roots because he knows about my postpartum hair-fall extravaganza. So if you just gave birth like me (or on your 4-5 month postpartum, expect hair-fall so be extra careful.
After rinsing my hair off of dye, they applied a scalp and hair treatment mask so that it would nourish my scalp and hair. It felt so good because it was minty! I love things for the hair that are minty!
Before blowdrying my hair, and having a bit of trim, Dennis applied Kerastase on my scalp which would help my roots to be stronger. I had my doubts at first because my hair fall is really bad, but after a few days, I really did notice a difference in my hair-fall (to be fair to Kerastase).
So I had to sit there are let the hair mask and scalp treatment do its magic for 20-30 minutes. I used that time to get to know my Hairshaft team that day. I love getting to know them since they take good care of me there.
So, cutting to blowdrying (skipping the boring parts of waiting), I was so happy to have seen my hair look like this in the end. Yay! I am so happy with the outcome, although a lot of people have been telling me that with my darker hair color I look older than I actually am.

But I will have to make do with this color for a while because my derma also advised me not to do any dyeing or any other chemical treatments for a while until my scalp and my hair fall has slowed down.
Post partum hair fall care would mean organic shampoos and lots and lots of aloe vera on the scalp and gugo shampoo. Avoid conditioner because conditioners make the roots weaker. But if you can't live without conditioners because of the tangles, apply only on the tips of your hair.
