The other day marked the end of Hair Care Week but I have been busy with work shooting a TV Commercial so I haven't been consistent with my posting this week. But here I am with Day 7: Home Cellophane Kit. Yay!

Packaging is actually ok. Product is housed in a small pot. Instructions and Ingredients are printed in English too so it's very easy to follow (Remember this part, this is very important).
I have heard of Lolane before and have heard lots of positive things about their home hair dye kit, and how effective it really colors ones hair. So when I saw this product, I didn't even have to think twice. I just had difficulty in choosing which color though: Burgundy Red or Chocolate Red.
Burgundy red was so much brighter than this! Almost like cherry red! This one looks bright because of the lighting, but the res is actually deeper. I chose the Burgundy red first but after I paid, I changed my mind. I didn't want my hair to end up being too red!
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Steareth-2, Triethanolamine, Steareth-21, Polyquatemium-6, Propylene Glycol, Hellanthus Annuus (Sunflower Seed Oil), Fragrance, HC Yellow No. 2, Basic Red 76, DMDM Hydantoin, Litsea Glutinosa Leaf Extract, Tetrasodium EDTA, Basic Red 51, Basic Blue 99, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbanate
I was trying to Google which colors are available in the market and guess what came up? It's FDA approved as well! From what I remember seeing on the shelf, there were 4 colors: Natural, Chocolate Brown, Chocolate Red, and Burgundy Red. I'm not sure if there was a 5th one. Or a 6th or 7th, but I can't recall.
Remember that line I said that was important about reading the directions really well? Ok, so here's why you should read it carefully. I was overly excited that I didn't see the part about wearing gloves and a dyeing cape. The result?
My hands were all copper-y red even my back... It took me about 2 days to get rid of the dye off my hands completely. So make sure that you have gloves on and a plastic cape. Or use a shirt or towel that you keep specially for dying your hair.
So, after shampooing, I towel dried my hair until it was damp and finished the whole in one application. One pot would have been enough for 2 applications but I couldn't see where I was putting on so I finished the entire pot to be sure!
I used a wide-tooth comb to spread the product evenly and thoroughly all over my head. I really massaged the product from roots to tips! I wanted the color to be as even as possible.
I secured my hair so they won't be moving about. Since I finished the whole bottle, my hair felt really heavy for one clip. So I used two.
Then I wrapped it with a plastic wrap nice and tightly.
To make sure that my head will "heat up", I put on a shower cap as well. According to the instructions, you are supposed to steam your hair for 15-20 minutes, but if you don't have a steamer, you should wrap your head with a hot towel. I was actually too lazy to do that so I just did it my way.
I left it on for 30 minutes. I rinsed off my hair without shampoo or conditioner. This is how my hair looks when it is still damp. Remember, I am using a Beauty Ring for Photography so that my hair's color can be seen. I don't use flash that much because it's too harsh.

I used a softer light for my frontal portrait. My hair is still not obviously red, but I love how it has that red reflection where light hits my hair! I am truly very happy! My tips are lighter and brighter than my roots because my tips are the most abused already. It had been bleached one to many times! I used Ellips hair treatment oil on the tips of my hair just to manage it. I skipped applying on my scalp.
MY THOUGHTS
- It's very messy to apply so make sure that you are prepared for this.
- I think it's better if someone were to apply it for you so they will be able to see if the application is even.
- Very affordable than hair dye!
- Effective.
- No strong smell of amonia. It smells like a deep conditioner/hair spa.
- Either it's hard to find or I never really looked before.
- A lot drying than other hair dyes.
- The instructions said that you are supposed to use this product instead of conditioner. But the product made my hair very coarse and dry without a heavy conditioner.
- My hair was was really shiny after the treatment!
- Would I repurchase? Absolutely.
- Would I recommend it? Absolutely.
- Instructions say to wear gloves and bib, but there wasn't any included. It would have been better if they included it!

ooops stains =) always use plastic gloves and cape when doing hair color.. hair spa and other hair treatment =) wala po bang kasama na plastic glove/cape? but in fairness ms sabs ang ganda ng result!

The color is really pretty! I wonder how the burgundy red would have looked, this one already looks pretty bright on your tips~ Did you experience any hair fall when you tried this? Parang sensitive kasi scalp ko, kaya nakakatakot magpakulay. But I want to try this!
ReplyDeleteI was actually wondering the same thing! Buti nalang I didn't get the Burgundy Red na din... It may be too much also! Naku... If you have sensitive scalp, try doing a swatch test... apply a dot of dye on your neck behind your ear and wait for 10 minutes to see a reaction... I'm no expert ha, but consult with a derma nalang :)

ReplyDeleteI got this from First Aid in Greenbelt 3 :) There were a few pots left there so I don't know if they will be restocking or what :) Maybe they sell it in Bench Fix Salons :)
DeleteNice post! Once you make sure the oil is not too hot for your hands or scalp, divide your hair into segments on top of your hand and take the oil and massage it into your scalp in circular motions. This promotes blood flow and circulation
