My first online shopping experience with Lazada

#techiethursdays

I am at the stage in my pregnancy when I cannot get a good night's sleep anymore. I am on the final stage where nights become so long that there's nothing else to do except entertain yourself with social media.

I was on Facebook when an ad for Lazada pops up on my screen: "Save 76% on a 12pc Naked 3 Professional Brush Set". I clicked the link... and the rest was history. You don't have to be a top techie to be able to do some online shopping, but online shopping does require you be a little bit of a techie to know your way around shopping sites. And Lazada's shopping app is pretty easy to navigate.

I never ordered from Lazada before, and only tried Zalora so I was pretty amazed with how convenient it was to shop in their site, and was surprised to discover a lot of good stuff in there at low discounted prices.

Allow me to take you step by step on how my shopping experience went with Lazada's hassle-free shopping, even at 2 o' clock in the morning!

So, when I clicked the Facebook ad link, I was redirected to the app and showed me the item: a 12-piece professional 3 power makeup brush by Naked 3. It would be more convenient for you if you download the Lazada app too.

I didn't know that Urban Decay made such brushes (kind of knowing that these brushes were fake), I went ahead and ordered myself 2 sets (one for me, and one for my sister). I figured that, if they were of good quality, then I could always use a good travel brush set and got them for a cheap price. And if they were not good, then at least I didn't spend a truck load of money and just give them to my nieces for them to play with.
I must warn you though, when you see something that you like (like the Naked 3 brush set, for example), search for the same item within the app because other sellers can be selling them with a better offer (like with a freebie), or some for a cheaper price.

I first purchased the brush set without knowing this. I checked out and paid with Paypal, and went back to browsing. That's when I found other sellers having much better offers. So I ordered another set priced at PhP 289.99 so I ended up with two sets.

You can find a lot of great deals in Lazada, like this Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit that comes with a FREE Beauty Blender. A Beauty Blender is quite expensive too, PhP 1,400+ for a sponge! So that's a good deal! When it comes to authenticity though, I wouldn't exactly know for sure.
I also have doubts about other makeup that have offers that are too good to be true. Like MAC's Blush On for only PhP 399, and it doesn't even have a blush name. If you are skeptic about the product, do your research first before you buy.

If you are skeptic, skip! The product might be cheap, but it's also a waste of money if it does turn out to be fake.
Here are other offers from other brands that tempted me but decided to skip them:

I am not familiar with this brand, and I couldn't find anything about it online so I decided to skip. Some shops selling these in Lazada even marks them as Urban Decay Lanbis lipsticks, but if you Google Urban Decay Lanbis Lipsticks, they are totally different from these. I have never seen or heard of these lippies before too.

Always take the time to do your research before purchasing.
Original Jo Malone colognes cost between PhP 6,000-10,000, so forgive me for being skeptic that this offer even comes with a bluetooth mini speaker. You'll have a strong feeling they're fake but, it's fun browsing though!
I have been seeing these tattoo lip colors too in bazaars, and they are supposed to be Korean. After doing my research, I hardly found anything online about Monomola, but found them in other blogs raving about it.

I added this set to my cart and hoped for the best. I'll be posting a review on this soon too!
I have been looking for good lip liners that would cover most of the lip colors I use, so I was delighted to see these! 12 shades for just PhP 315, most of which are bold colors too. Lazada doesn't give any more information other than them being "authentic" so I put these in my cart as well.

I have seen a couple of blogs online too talking about these pencils but very vague so I decided to order them for myself and just try them out so I can do a more detailed review on them.
So, with three items in my cart, I clicked VIEW CART and was redirected to a page so I can do a review on the items I added.
...And then clicking on Secure Checkout gives you a breakdown on how much you owe. It also tells add on charges like shipping or you can add voucher details too if you have it.
Upon checking out, you need to register for an account -but don't worry, if you didn't register for an account before beginning your shopping, the app takes you through registration step by step.
After registering for an account, then you are taken to a PAYMENT page where you can choose your mode of payment. At first I chose the DEBIT CARD option hoping that I could pay with my BDO debit card but after entering all the details of my card, it says that they don't accept it.

That annoyed me though because that would have been better than using my PayPal account. I am out of the house most of the day too so leaving cash was out of the question as well.
After paying, you are given an order number and you will receive an email of a summary of what you ordered. It's pretty easy too and I was really impressed on how the app was pretty idiot-proof.
With regards to how fast you get your items though, for my orders, it took a whole week for all of my orders to arrive. I only ordered four items in total, and I received them separately -in three separate batches.
Their packaging is not as fancy as other online shopping sites but they do have their own courier bag. They do however pack their products properly with an ample amount of bubble wrap so you can be sure that your products are more or less secure. I just hope that the delivery guys handle the packages well.
After 3 days from ordering, the first to arrive was one of the Naked 3 brushes. A couple of days later, I received the other set of Naked 3 brushes along with the set of Monomola lip tattoos. And finally, another couple of days later, the set of lip liners arrive. In total, they arrived a week later.

They are not so fast with the shipping, and it's really annoying to know that your items do not come from one place. I mean if it did they would have come all at once. Unlike BeautyMNL where they have a warehouse of the stuff they sell and everything comes from BeautyMNL instead of from the different vendors.
Ordering with Lazada is very convenient. And really, the products they sold in there I have only seen in bazaars before so it was a really good discovery for me. I guess if you are into the whole bazaar and "rare" finds, then Lazada is a place for you to shop. They also have drugstore brands like L'Oreal and Maybelline.

I do however have to warn you that the site does not really indicate where the items are from, and does not include too much details where the products are made. So I suggest doing research before clicking the checkout button. I even saw a fake version of Benefit's Porefessional there that comes with a Beauty Blender sponge. So please be careful when shopping.

I will be doing a more detailed review and give my first impressions on the products I bought from the site on a different post.

So, how have you shopped from Lazada before? What was your experience like?

  1. Hi Ms.Sab, mostly those makeup being sold on Lazada are fake. Actually third-party store yung nagbebenta at hawak lang ng lazada. I only buy gadgets sa kanila and shipping was fast.

  5. If it's any consolation, those MeNow True Lips are authentic. I have so far not come across fakes of MeNow products--probably because they are so cheap already in the first place. :)
