"Maskimizing" your facial masking at home with Origins!
Long before Origins came here to the Philippines, I have heard so much about the brand and how their masks are the ones that really work really well.
Origins is synonymous with face masks, as a matter of a fact I was told once by my friend who lives in the UK that they are the best selling face mask brand in the UK. Now if there is a company out there who is able to change the game of masking it is Origins. Just when you thought you have seen it all in the wonderful world of masking, Origins has left us all goo-goo eyed with their newest product launch -it is so simple yet very clever you'll be wondering why no-one has ever thought of it before: Yes, a mask primer! So I would like to tell you all about Origins' Maskimizer Skin-Optimizing Mask Primer.
Along with today's feature on the Maskimizer, I am also going to tell you all about their new mask: Dink Up Intensive Overnight Mask, and how I personally use this mask.
Maskimizer Skin-Optimizing Mask Primer
I'm not going to focus any attention on packaging - it's pretty straight up and serves a purpose, that's really all you need to know in this case. What I do what to mention is the spray nozzle: it sprays a super fine mist that will not soak your face nor surroundings, or even spot spray like it will hurt your skin. It delivers more than enough product each and every time you spray it on your face. If you have ever been drenched by a facial mist in the past then you will appreciate this one from Maskimizer - it's the little things that help make a product great. Plus, towards emptying the bottle, the product doesn't get sticky that it blocks the nozzle.
As you may have guessed already, Origins Maskimizer Skin-Optimizing Mask Primer is a pre-treatment before masking. A facial mist in which you apply to clear skin before popping on your mask. It's similar to a toner, but not quite. The Maskimizer is the perfect pair to any face mask of your choosing (including sheet masks and sleep masks) but I wouldn't recommend it for peeling masks because it won't serve its purpose.

Basically this super fine mist not only preps the skin for a good home-facial treatment, but along with it comes with additional moisture containing Marine Algae Complex which soothes and softens the skin, and encourages the mask to work a little bit harder and more effectively.
To use the Maskimizer is really simple. With a clean face, spritz all over your face with your eyes closed and try to pat the excess product into your skin so that your skin will absorb the mist. Pat with facial tissue the excess product. It has a tingling feeling on the skin and it sort of stings for about a minute but it goes away. It feels really refreshing!

I love using the Maskimizer with all my Origins masks: Origins GinZing Refreshing Face Mask, or Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask, and my other masks like Dermal Facial Masks, Kracie All in 1 Moisturizing Facial Mask, or even GlamGlow Muds! But what I really love is using this with Origins' latest overnight mask which is the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask!
Lately, with my mega dry pregnant skin, I have found myself using plenty of masks over the past couple of weeks trying to look for the perfect one to quench my ever thirsty skin. Because of the hormones, my skin is really dry and flaky and this is the only mask that I’ve used where it actually works best if you leave it exactly as the name suggests, overnight.
In my case though, I use it during the day where my skin is at its most dry! I love taking hot showers in spite of our really warm weather, and this causes my skin to get even more dry and flaky!

Using this mask is like using it the same way as you would with other cream leave-on overnight masks. Only this one, you don’t need to wash off. Some blogs would say that they find it sticky but I don't find it sticky at all specially when you tissue off the excess. That's why using it during the day works really well for me. The Drink Up mask is made up of a fruity combination of Apricot Kernel Oil, Avocado Oil and Mango Butter and I am so in love with the smell – these are my favourite kinda masks where the smell is not overwhelming. Specially now with my pregnant nose. LOL
When I feel like using this mask in the evening, I noticed that my face was plump, hydrated and a little dewy. And when I use this mask in the morning before leaving the house, even after washing my face, my face stayed moisturized and created a nice canvas for applying my skin care products and makeup!
It is recommended that you use this mask only twice a week, but because of my uber dry skin, I "maskimize" (see what I did there?) it by using it thrice a week.
I apply a generous amount on my face an massage it really well into my skin. I tissue off excess after massaging it, and I leave it on.
You will notice immediate results! Skin is plump, glowing, brighter, really clear and moisturized! It gives a really supple feel and a smooth canvas for makeup! I love using this mask!
I also noticed that since I started using Origins, I have less breakouts!
Origins Boutique is now open and is located at the G/F of SM Makati.
