Review: Sally Hansen Lavender Spa Wax Kit

by - Sunday, November 04, 2012

Hey gorgeous!

Welcome back from the long weekend! Hope you guys had a good one as much as I did! I spent the long vacay in Subic, and one of my favorite past times in Subic is going shopping in Royal Subic. It's a haven of PX goods for beauty products!

I was due for another home waxing kit, and I meant to get my favorite Nanny Rose's Sticks & Pulls as soon as I got home to Manila, but I came across this in Royal Subic:

The Lavender Spa Wax Kit. It had me at "microwave". For those of you who don't know yet, I had an unfortunate incident/accident with Epilin's Home Waxing kit that ended me going to the Emergency Room of Makati Med, so that's when I switched to microwaveable ones or cold waxing.

It was on sale too! From $11 (P451) to $8.50 (P348.50) so I figured, why not? I love the packaging (of course, that is a huge deal for me). It comes with an idiot-proof instructions inside so, what the heck!

The box contains one (1) 170g Hair Removal Wax, eight (8) wood applicators, spatulas (20) cloth strips, and one (1) finishing oil.

Its claims: Lavender is a known anti-irritant that helps soothe and comfort skin.

The consistency is very very sticky. If it gets on your hands, it's not washable under running water. You have to use the oil to remove the stickiness from your hands! That one is a minus for me. Nanny Rose's home waxing kit can be washed off using running water. You can reuse the cloths and the spatulas by just cleaning the stuff with water.

It has a good runny consistency after I heated the wax in the microwave for 1 minute. I love that it's very spreadable! Nanny Rose's wax is a bit of a struggle when applying it on the "hairy area" teehee.

OVERALL RATING: 2/5. And I won't purchase again.

Although the packaging is attractive, and the smell is divine! I won't purchase this again. Sadly, I had to use about 5 cloth strips on one armpit (of course, I didn't have to show you the gruesome photos of my armpit! LOL) and a lot of hair still remained! PLUS! It was unbelievably sticky, it was almost annoying.

Nanny Rose still takes the cake by a mile. Have you ladies tried both products yet? What's your take on it?
