Sport a 70's Disco Makeup that has a vintage flair!
by Sabs Hernandez

Along with the "natural" hair of the '70s came a natural look in skin and cosmetics. Earlier decades had made fashionable the dead white complexion, the flawless matte of a movie star skin, and the rosy blush of innocence through the magic of foundation.

GET THE LOOK...

I would recommend using cream eye shadow- in light blue, green, turquoise or peach. If you are more experienced with eyeshadow application, blend 2 colors together, if not, a wash of 1 color would do just fine.

Very dark, defined creases was the trend of the 70s. Do not blend the crease too much- it should be a little obvious. Choose frosts over mattes, or shadows with a little glitter is good but was not a major trend in the disco days, so go lightly. Try to avoid pinks and plums, blues and greens were more popular.

Heavy highlighter on the brow bone- in fact, all over the face. Highlighter and bronzers were very popular back then. Although, if you are fair or very fair, skip the bronzer. It would look very unnatural.

Liquid liner and khol pencils, again choose colors over black ones, although black is fine too. Do not line inside the rim- this is an 80's trend. Heavier blush, but be careful not to apply it too low- that is 80's; in the 70's, it was higher and did not extend as far back. Keep the lips plain with a stain and gloss it up!

You can go wild on the lashes! The lashes make the statement for that 70's disco look! Try ones that are embellished with faux diamonds that mimic a disco ball!

If you have long hair (like Cielo's that fall up to her waist), keep it really straight and let loose around your face covering your ears. If you have short layered hair, go for the Madonna-confessions-on-a-dance-floor look or Farrah Fawcet's hair style was very popular in the 70's!

Go ahead and try the look! Experiment with your makeup and just have fun!! ENJOY!
